9/1 WWE Raw in Terre Haute, Ind.: Cena vs. Orton headlines, no Umaga, Kennedy, Booker Sep 2, 2007 - 1:46:00 PM
WWE Raw house show
September 1, 2007
Terre Haute, Ind. at Hulman Center.
Report by John Lawson, PWTorch VIP member
Here are the results from last night's Raw house show. From the time tickets went on sale in July right up until the day of the matches, most of the radio ads stated that the TV cameras would be here, but, of course, there were no TV cameras. While Cena vs. Orton was always the advertised main event, the radio and TV ads kept changing the semi main event. The original semi was Lashley vs. Umaga, but after Lashley was injured it was changed to a three-way IC Title match with Umaga vs. Carlito vs. Kennedy. Then, in the week leading to the matches, the radio spot changed to Umaga in a two-on-one handicap match against those two, still billed as a title match. Other ads running at the same time were once again advertising Lashley. The day before the matches, WWE sent a press release to radio stations that changed the semi to Carlito vs. Jeff Hardy, with Umaga no longer listed.
Estimated attendance was 2,000. Maria served as the ring announcer/host for the evening and said her parents were in attendance from Chicago (about three-and-a-half hours north of here).
(1) Cody Rhody pinned Davairi after a bulldog
(2) Highlanders beat David Taylor & Paul Birchall when Robbie pinned Birchall
(3) Shelton Benjamin sporting blond hair pinned Super Crazy
(4) Hacksaw Duggan pinned Jay Bradley
(5) Candice Michelle & Mickie James beat Melina & Beth Phoenix when Candice pinned Melina. Fairly lengthy match.
(6) Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch retained the tag title over Cryme Tyme in a short match, when JTG was counted out of the ring. Before the match, Cryme Tyme auctioned off Trevor's trucker hat that they stole from him in the dressing room. A fan paid $20 for the hat. After losing by COR, they attacked the ref and stripped him of his belt. They started an auction, but ended up simply tossing it to the fans.
(7) Carlito pinned Jeff Hardy after a back stabber.
(8) John Cena retained the title pinning Randy Orton after an FU. Heated match, with a few jeers and negative signs directed at Cena, but he was by far and away the most over of everyone.
Conspicuous by their absence were the previously advertised Umaga and Mr. Kennedy. King Booker was listed on a press release on Friday, but had never been advertised previously. No announcement was made regarding any of the stars not appearing.
QUICK TIPS FOR SENDING RESULTS
If you attend an arena event in future, either house shows or TV tapings, we encourage you to send us a report for publication. You can direct your reports to "matchresults07" (@pwtorch. com).
We accept reports in any format, but if it's not much trouble, please format your report like you see above, with the matches numbered like this (1) , (2) , (3) , with the opening line of each match paragraph stating who beat whom (don't just say Wrestler A vs. Wrestler beat with the result listed later; instead, state up front who won so those readers who don't have time to read the entire report (i. e. their boss walks past their cubicle all the time looking beat their shoulder) can at least quickly assess the results.
Also, please list tag teams using the "&" symbol as opposed to stating "and. " Reserve use of " and" when listing results in a three-way or four-way match where there are no teams (i. e. " Wrestler A beat Wrestler B and Wrestler C in a three-way match" ) so it is easy to differentiate a handicap match from a three-way match.
If you know HTML coding for bolding, you can also bold out the first line of each match description. If you don't know HTML symbols, then we can add those ourselves.
Special thanks to everyone who helps us with reports on live events!
