WWE SD/ECW house show
December 27, 2007
East Rutherford, N.J.
Report by A.G., PWTorch correspondent
I attended tonight's show at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, NJ. Not a sellout but a pretty packed house.
(1) Kane pinned Big Daddy V with a chokeslam.
(2) Mark Henry & Jamie Noble beat Palumbo & Jimmy Yang Wang after Palumbo accidentally gave Wang a boot. Noble then rolled up Palumbo for the win. Afterward, Palumbo shoved Wang down and left to a chorus of boos.
(3) Elijah Burke pinned Tommy Dreamer. Elijah promied before the match to rid WWE of the last ECW original.
(4) Kelly Kelly won a best body contest over Victoria, Layla, and Michelle McCool. Need I explain?
(5) Miz & Morrison defeated Jesse & Festus when Morrison rolled up Festus with a hand full of tights.
(6) C.M. Punk beat Chavo Guerrero to retain the ECW Title.
MVP came out and ran down New Jersey. He then challenged anybody on the WWE roster to come out and challenge him for the US Title. Out came...... Carlito. MVP invited Carlito to join him in catching a plane out of Jersey to Miami. Carlito said Jersey loves him and he wants to hold the US title again.
(7) MVP pinned Carlito to retain the US title. MVP blocked the back stabber and hit a forwad roll fot the pin. Carlito flipped off the crowd on his way out.
(8) Undertaker pinned Khali after an awful chokeslam. Taker was very over with crowd, 17 years and his entrance still gets the biggest pop.
(9) Edge beat Batista in a Last Man Standing match to retain the World Title. Great match with a ton of heat. Crowd was so into it that they counted ahead of the ref every time Edge was down. Finish came when Batista had Edge down but the Major twins ran in. Batista fended them off early but the Majors hit a double impaler DDT. Batista and Edge both began to rise but of the Majors tripped Batista behind the ref's back. After the match Taker came out, he and Batista laid the Major Bros out.
Overall a good show. Almost a full house and a very hot crowd. The holiday house show in Jersey seems to work well for WWE. Lots of kids in the crowd.
QUICK TIPS FOR SENDING RESULTS
If you attend an arena event in future, either house shows or TV tapings, we encourage you to send us a report for publication. You can direct your reports to "matchresults07" (@pwtorch. com).
We accept reports in any format, but if it's not much trouble, please format your report like you see above, with the matches numbered like this (1) , (2) , (3) , with the opening line of each match paragraph stating who beat whom (don't just say Wrestler A vs. Wrestler beat with the result listed later; instead, state up front who won so those readers who don't have time to read the entire report (i. e. their boss walks past their cubicle all the time looking beat their shoulder) can at least quickly assess the results.
Also, please list tag teams using the "&" symbol as opposed to stating "and. " Reserve use of " and" when listing results in a three-way or four-way match where there are no teams (i. e. " Wrestler A beat Wrestler B and Wrestler C in a three-way match" ) so it is easy to differentiate a handicap match from a three-way match.
If you know HTML coding for bolding, you can also bold out the first line of each match description. If you don't know HTML symbols, then we can add those ourselves.
Special thanks to everyone who helps us with reports on live events!
