3/14 ROH is Dover, N.J.: Filming of "The Wrestler" movie distracts crowd and wrestlers, Ernest Miller returns Mar 15, 2008 - 12:32:00 PM
ROH house show
March 14, 2008
Dover, N.J. at The Baker Theater
Report by Daniel Chornomaz, PWTorch.com reader
The card was held at The Baker Theater, an old fashioned Broadway style theater. The climatic scene for the upcoming movie "The Wrestler" was being filmed, so there were a lot more lights, a fancy entrance ramp, and many very casual fans. The filming was done intermittently, in between the "real" matches. It really killed the flow of the show and made it almost four hours long. None of the matches were standouts, and it was the least exciting ROH card I've ever attended. Even the ROH wrestlers seemed distracted. Attendance was around 450.
(1) Roderick Strong defeated Pelle Primeau.
Movie Match: Randy the Ram (a/k/a Mickey Rourke) defeated The Ayatollah. Rourke looked surprisingly good in the ring and even did some high flying spots in this short match. Ernest Miller played the Ayatollah. Crowd asked him to dance several times, but he declined.
(2) Claudio Castignoli & Erick Stevens defeated Nigel McGuiness & B.J. Whitmer. Claudio pinned Nigel with the Ricola bomb.
(3) Delirious defeated Necro Butcher. Daizee Hayes came into the ring to fend off the interfering Lacey.
(4) Brian Danielson & Austin Aries defeated Ruckus & Jigsaw. Eddie Kingston from CZW was in the crowd harassing Ruckus.
(5) Go Shiozaki defeated Brent Albright.
Larry Sweeney came out with Bobby Dempsey, handing out business cards. I got one! Albright rebuffed his offers. Sarah Del Ray did as well. Claudio chased Sweet and Sour away.
(6) Kevin Steen defeated Davey Richards.
(7) The Age of the Fall (Joey Matthews & Tyler Black) defeated Jay & Mark Briscoe with help from Lacey.
TIPS FOR SENDING IN HOUSE SHOW REPORTS
If you attend an arena event in future, either house shows or TV tapings, we encourage you to send us a report for publication. You can direct your reports to "matchresults07" (@pwtorch. com).
We accept reports in any format, but if it's not much trouble, please format your report like you see above, with the matches numbered like this (1) , (2) , (3) , with the opening line of each match paragraph stating who beat whom (don't just say Wrestler A vs. Wrestler beat with the result listed later; instead, state up front who won so those readers who don't have time to read the entire report (i. e. their boss walks past their cubicle all the time looking beat their shoulder) can at least quickly assess the results.
Also, please list tag teams using the & symbol as opposed to stating and. Reserve use of and when listing results in a three-way or four-way match where there are no teams (i. e. Wrestler A beat Wrestler B and Wrestler C in a three-way match ) so it is easy to differentiate a handicap match from a three-way match.
If you know HTML coding for bolding, you can also bold out the first line of each match description. If you don't know HTML symbols, then we can add those ourselves.
Special thanks to everyone who helps us with reports on live events!
