5/3 WWE in Hamilton, Ontario: Jericho teams with Kennedy, Regal cuts promo, Triple H vs. Orton May 19, 2008 - 1:06:02 PM
Note: Some arena reports from readers were misdirected earlier this month into the wrong email box on my computer, so I've retrieved them and am publishing them today. My apologies to the correspondents who filed timely reports and didn't get published until today...
WWE Raw house show
May 3, 2008
Hamilton, Ontario of Copps Coliseum
Report by John Andrade, PWTorch.com reader
Good crowd with a few empty seats here and there.
(1) Cryme Tyme defeated Lance Cade & Murdoch. Cryme Tyme are the first superstars out and get a great reaction from the crowd. Cade and Murdoch come out to great heat. Murdoch starts and stalls for a few minutes to get the crowd to hate him. Cryme Tyme win in about 8 minutes and Murdoch gets the mic and stands in the ring and sings the Garth Brooks song to Cade, like he did on Raw.
(2) Cody Rhodes defeated "The Natural" Nick Nemeth. Basic match that was too long. Most of the crowd seemed to love Cody but the match was boring and received a few boring chants as well. Cody wins with a DDT in 10 minutes.
(3) Paul Burchill & Katie Lea defeated Super Crazy. Crazy comes out to a nice pop, followed by Burchill and Lea who get a few boos. Katie takes the mic and says the Regal has allowed them to have a handicap match again. Super crazy and Burchill went at it while Katie gave a few moves here and there. Burchill gets the pin after hitting the Curb Stomp on Crazy after a little over five minutes. After the match Super Crazy sells the move like he's hurt and walks to the back in a daze while getting applause from the crowd.
(4) Brian Kendrick & Paul London defeated Carlito & Santino via DQ. Santino and Carlito come out to mostly boos with a few cheers. Kendrick and London come out to a great babyface pop and do their backflip from the top rope twice. Carlito tries to show up Kendrick and London by attempting a back flip off the top rope, but falls on the mat while doing it. Good match, with the usual face in peril. Kendrick gets the hot tag and after some confusion Carlito & Santino are DQ'd for some reason I didn't see, sorry. Match was ten minutes.
Intermission
(5) Mickie James defeated Beth Phoenix to retain the Women's Title. Everyone went crazy for Mickie James. They had an alright 10 minute match with one or two blown spots. Beth dominated most of the match but Mickie came back and got the win with the swinging DDT. Beth stands in the ring afterwards and gets booed all the way back to the dressing room.
William Regal is now introduced. He cuts a promo on how he is the most powerful entity in WWE. He demands that Mr. Kennedy come out and apologize for what happened on Raw. Kennedy came out to a big pop and told Regal he will not apologize. Snitsky runs in and we now have a two-on-one beat down on Kennedy. Regal gets on the mic and makes it a handicap match. A few minutes in JERICHO's music hits and the place went wild in one of the biggest pops of the night. Jericho comes down and takes the corner to be Kennedy’s partner.
(6) Chris Jericho & Mr. Kennedy defeated William Regal & Snitsky. Kennedy plays the face in peril for most of the match and finally gets the hot tag to Jericho who rips it up with his signature moves and almost botched the springboard dropkick to the outside. Kennedy and Regal start going at it on the outside and end up going over the guardrail and brawling in the crowd until they completely disappeared. This left Jericho & Snitsky to go one on one and shortly after Jericho hits the code breaker for the win. After the match Jericho plays to the crowd similar to Hogan and gets Huge pops from every section.
(7) WWE Championship Street Fight: Triple H defeated Randy Orton to retain the WWE Title. Orton comes out to a mixed reaction and Triple H follows with a huge pop. They go at it for awhile then Orton finally goes to the outside and grabs a garbage can from under the ring. Orton blasts Triple h with it, but its not enough so he uses the garbage can lid, but trips still wont stay down. Orton goes out for a chair and ends up giving Triple H a DDT onto it. Triple h kicks out and manages a comeback before going to the outside and grabs the sledgehammer. After Orton countered the pedigree Triple h ends up getting the win with a sledgehammer shot to the head after 20 minutes. Triple H celebrates for a long time, shaking hands with many fans on his way out.
Notes: Crowd was pretty good all night. No Cena or HBK. Fun show though that sent us home happy.
TIPS FOR SENDING IN HOUSE SHOW REPORTS
If you attend an arena event in future, either house shows or TV tapings, we encourage you to send us a report for publication. You can direct your reports to pwtorch@gmail.com.
We accept reports in any format, but if it's not much trouble, please format your report like you see above, with the matches numbered like this (1) , (2) , (3) , with the opening line of each match paragraph stating who beat whom (don't just say Wrestler A vs. Wrestler beat with the result listed later; instead, state up front who won so those readers who don't have time to read the entire report (i. e. their boss walks past their cubicle all the time looking beat their shoulder) can at least quickly assess the results.
Also, please list tag teams using the & symbol as opposed to stating and. Reserve use of and when listing results in a three-way or four-way match where there are no teams (i. e. Wrestler A beat Wrestler B and Wrestler C in a three-way match ) so it is easy to differentiate a handicap match from a three-way match.
If you know HTML coding for bolding, you can also bold out the first line of each match description. If you don't know HTML symbols, then we can add those ourselves.
Special thanks to everyone who helps us with reports on live events!
