WWE Raw house show
May 10, 2008
Hamilton, Ontario of Copps Coliseum
Report by Jeremy Vanderzwagg, PWTorch.com reader
(1) Super Crazy over Santino Morella. Santino created heat by saying that the town was famous because Shaq had a movie named after it, "alakazoo" it was hilarious, Super Crazy wins with a cross body off the top rope and a roll up for a three-count.
(2) Hardcore Holly defeats Snitsky. Basic back and forth action with Snitsky making Holly look like a cruiserweight, but Holly pulled out the Alabama Slamma for the win
(3) Cody Rhodes over "The Natural" Nick Nemeth. The Natural cut a promo about how he was perfect and had sun kissed hair and a sculpted body, it was just what you would expect from a Cody Rhodes match, not pretty but watchable, lots of ground holds and downtime, Rhodes winning with a DDT.
(4) Cryme Tyme defeats Cade & Murdoch. Cryme Tyme have no gimmick and had problems getting the crowd behind them, seemed Kalamazoo is more in tune with the country swagger of Cade and Murdoch, in the end Cade was trapped on the outside which left Murdoch alone for a quick 3 count. The dissention between the two continued and Murdoch sang another country song that i'm not familiar with and Cade kept screaming "we lost" and walked to the back.
Intermission
(5) Micky James over Beth Phoenix. The Glamazon had most of the offense of the match, really demostrated how larger she really is compared to Micky, Micky finally got on offense and utilized a head scissors into a roll up for the win.
(6) Kane defeats Chavo Guerrero. They had the crowd text what watch they wanted to see, of course they chose a no disqualification match. Chavo mostly avoided Kane until Kane caught him and pulled him over the top rope into the ring. Chavo got some offense but it was mostly Kane. Chavo used a chair to poke Kane in the ribs and countered at choke slam into a ddt, Chavo's bodyguard went to get involved and Kane tossed him over the top rope and choke slammed Chavo to retain the ECW heavyweight title. Seemed odd that ECW was being represented at a Raw house show.
(7) Chris Jericho & Shawn Michaels over JBL & Umaga. This was originally JBL vs Jericho and Regal announced it would be a handicapped match and Umaga was brought out to aid JBL. JBL cut an amazing promo saying that he wasn't here to cut a professional wrestling promo or create cheap heat, he seriously from the bottom of his heart did not want to be here and thought every single one of us sucked, our men are cowards and buy JBL beer and our women are toothless rednecks, he wanted to know who booked this toilet bowl and had the crowd calling for his blood, now that is cheap heat. The match was set to begin and Shawn Michaels music hit, he wobbled out, still selling the knee injury and said that he saw Steven Regal leaving, I mean William, it was funny to have him call Regal by his WCW name, Shawn said it did not seem fair to have Jericho go against JBL and Umaga and said it should be a tag team match. He asked the crowd not to say anything to Regal cause he would get in trouble so we had to keep quiet about him joining the match, haha house shows are a wrestling reality all their own. Match went back and forth and Michaels got in offense and also selling his leg injury. In the end Umaga went for the spike on Jericho, but Michaels entered and superkicked him and Jericho codebreakered him for the win.
Notes: The last two matches of the night really saved the show from being forgettable, and the heat created by JBL by far made him the most hated man in the building.
TIPS FOR SENDING IN HOUSE SHOW REPORTS
If you attend an arena event in future, either house shows or TV tapings, we encourage you to send us a report for publication. You can direct your reports to pwtorch@gmail.com.
We accept reports in any format, but if it's not much trouble, please format your report like you see above, with the matches numbered like this (1) , (2) , (3) , with the opening line of each match paragraph stating who beat whom (don't just say Wrestler A vs. Wrestler beat with the result listed later; instead, state up front who won so those readers who don't have time to read the entire report (i. e. their boss walks past their cubicle all the time looking beat their shoulder) can at least quickly assess the results.
Also, please list tag teams using the & symbol as opposed to stating and. Reserve use of and when listing results in a three-way or four-way match where there are no teams (i. e. Wrestler A beat Wrestler B and Wrestler C in a three-way match ) so it is easy to differentiate a handicap match from a three-way match.
If you know HTML coding for bolding, you can also bold out the first line of each match description. If you don't know HTML symbols, then we can add those ourselves.
Special thanks to everyone who helps us with reports on live events!
