WWE Raw house show
June 8, 2008
Stockton, Calif. at the Stockton Arena
Report by Brian of Modesto, Calif, PWTorch.com reader
(1) Cody Rhodes & Hardcore Holly defeated Carlito & Santino Marella when Cody pinned Santino with the DDT.
(2) Ted DiBiase Jr. pinned Hacksaw Jim Duggan with a roll of the tights and feet on the ropes.
(3) Brian Kendrick beat Snitsky with the Sliced Bread #2. Snitsky laid him out afterwards with the pump handle slam.
(4) Paul Burchill & Katie Lea defeated Super Crazy after a Burchill neckbreaker and Katie pinning.
(5) Chris Jericho pinned Jeff Hardy with the Codebreaker to retain the Intercontinental Title. Crowd was split between the two, Jeff Hardy got a good reaction. Pretty good match, seemed to be on the short end. A kid had been picked from the crowd to be special timekeeper and was given $200.
(6) Mickie James defeated Beth Phoenix after the jumping tornado DDT to retain the Women's Title. Beth Phoenix is extremely impressive in person, what a physique! A young lady was picked from the crowd to be James' manager and was given $200. Notice a trend here?
(7) John Cena pinned JBL after the FU. JBL was ultra-hated by the crowd, his schtick was extremely entertaining for me though. Cena got a massive pop and reaction, of course. Mostly love for him in these parts I guess. Match was OK, redeemed by JBL's antics.
(8) Triple H pinned Umaga in a no-DQ match to retain the World Title after Umaga missed the Samoan Spike and Triple H hit him with a sledgehammer shot followed by the Pedigree. Fans voted for this by text messaging, other options were a two out of three falls and falls count anywhere. Triple H got the huge superstar reaction, the crowd was crazy for him, far over more then anyone else. Very good match.
Other notes: Pretty good show from top to bottom. Maria had been in and out in the crowd various points of the night, pushing the McMahon money give away. She stayed away from the floor section, though, much to my dismay. Definitely more Cena merchandise then anyone else I saw sold, his autographed pictures and DVDs were on fire!
TIPS FOR SENDING IN HOUSE SHOW REPORTS
If you attend an arena event in future, either house shows or TV tapings, we encourage you to send us a report for publication. You can direct your reports to pwtorch@gmail.com.
We accept reports in any format, but if it's not much trouble, please format your report like you see above, with the matches numbered like this (1) , (2) , (3) , with the opening line of each match paragraph stating who beat whom (don't just say Wrestler A vs. Wrestler beat with the result listed later; instead, state up front who won so those readers who don't have time to read the entire report (i. e. their boss walks past their cubicle all the time looking beat their shoulder) can at least quickly assess the results.
Also, please list tag teams using the & symbol as opposed to stating and. Reserve use of and when listing results in a three-way or four-way match where there are no teams (i. e. Wrestler A beat Wrestler B and Wrestler C in a three-way match ) so it is easy to differentiate a handicap match from a three-way match.
If you know HTML coding for bolding, you can also bold out the first line of each match description. If you don't know HTML symbols, then we can add those ourselves.
Special thanks to everyone who helps us with reports on live events!
