Report by Gus Liadis, PW Torch Reader
(1) William Regal vs. Primo Colon. Basic eight minute match with Regal controlling most of the action. Colon suprised Regal with a backslide for the three count.
(2) Kelly Kelly was in the upper deck. She asked a kid where Wrestlemania 24 was held. The kid correctly answered Orlando. He and his family were moved to the front row.
(3) Lancs Cade ws D LO Brown. This match was dominated by D LO. He scored two near falls and then went for a frog splash from the top rope, but missed. Cade hit a combination bookend into a power bomb for the pin. This bout went about eight minutes.
(4) Beth Phoenix vs. Mickie James for the Women's Title. This was a back and forth match with The Glamazon hitting her finisher for the pin in seven minutes. Mickie sold the move for a couple of minutes after the match.
(5) Jamie Noble vs. Snitsky. This was a short five minute match. Snitsky was squashing Noble. Noble tried to mount an offense, he climbed the top turnbuckle. Snitsky wrapped both hands around Noble and was going to throw Noble off the turnbuckle. Noble locked in what appeared to be a triangle choke hold and got the tap out win over Snitsky. Snitsky regained his heat after the match by delivering a big boot to the face of Noble. After this match, there was a 15 minute intermission.
(6) Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase vs. Cryme Tyme. Before the match, Cody complained about Cryme Tyme stealing their belts last week on Raw. He should have complained about the lousy booking that had them lose to Cena. The match went for 11 minutes and was the WWE formula of Faces starting on top followed by heals gaining control. JT took the beatdown. In the end, Shag was hotted tagged and had the pin on DiBiase, but the ref was distracted which allowed Rhodes to come off the ropes onto Shag's head. This led to DiBiase scoring the pin. Afterwards, Cryme Time stole the belts again.
(7) Santino Marella (w/Beth Phoenix) vs. Kofi Kingston. Santino gave an entertaining prematch speech on how he and Beth are a team and one is down the other picks them up. He talked about how he was able to pick up The Glamazon on her off night at Summerslam. Good interaction between the two. The match went 12 minutes. While the ref was getting out of Kofi's way as he was attempting to springboard Santino out of the corner, The Glamazon held onto Santino's feet causing Kofi to land on his head. This led to Santino's pin fall victory.
(8) Chris Jericho & Kane vs. Cena & Batista. Jericho came out 1st and cut a good heal promo on how Shawn Michaels and the fans are to blame for what happened to Michael's wife. This was a solid bout. It went 19 minutes. Batista took the beat down and the hot tagged Cena. In the end, Batista hit the spear on Kane and Cena followed up with the FU on Kane for the pin. After the match, Cena and Batista circled ringside for several minutes and high fived fans. One fan gave Cena a shirt which he put on.
(9) JBL vs. C.M. Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship. JBL came out and drew great heat for his heal promo ripping on Bethlehem. The fans had a choice of what type of match this should be. By a 73 percent vote, a NO DQ match was chosen over a fall count anywhere and 2 out of 3 falls match. This match turned into a hardcore match. JBL threw chairs, a trash can, trash lids, and the ring steps into the ring for weapons. In the end, JBL went to hit Punk with a chair, but Punk kicked it into his face and followed it up with GTS for the win in19 minutes. Good Match
Comments: If Toronto is bizzaro world for WWE then Bethlehem is perfect world. This is the third straight WWE event I have been to @ Stabler. The fans reactions are just what WWE would want. Cena and Bautista got rock star type reactions from the fans. Punk got a huge pop. All the faces were cheared as well as Kane and Snitsky whose from Pa. The heals got the heat they were suppose to get led by JBL and Jericho. Also, Regal gets a lot of heat in Bethlehem. The fans clap and chant through out the show. I believe the wrestlers appreciate it. Also, on a personal note, I caught Cena's hat for my son.
Top Popps
1. Cena
1a.Bautista
3. Punk
4. Everyone else
Top Heat
1. JBL
2. Jericho
3. Regal
TIPS FOR SENDING IN HOUSE SHOW REPORTS
If you attend an arena event in future, either house shows or TV tapings, we encourage you to send us a report for publication. You can direct your reports to pwtorch@gmail.com.
We accept reports in any format, but if it's not much trouble, please format your report like you see above, with the matches numbered like this (1) , (2) , (3) , with the opening line of each match paragraph stating who beat whom (don't just say Wrestler A vs. Wrestler beat with the result listed later; instead, state up front who won so those readers who don't have time to read the entire report (i. e. their boss walks past their cubicle all the time looking beat their shoulder) can at least quickly assess the results.
Also, please list tag teams using the & symbol as opposed to stating and. Reserve use of and when listing results in a three-way or four-way match where there are no teams (i. e. Wrestler A beat Wrestler B and Wrestler C in a three-way match ) so it is easy to differentiate a handicap match from a three-way match.
If you know HTML coding for bolding, you can also bold out the first line of each match description. If you don't know HTML symbols, then we can add those ourselves.
Special thanks to everyone who helps us with reports on live events!
