WWE Raw brand house show

I just got back from the Raw house show in Newcastle with a sell-out of approximately 7,500.

(1) IC Title match - William Regal defeated Santino. Santino comes out first to give a speech about how unfair it is he had defend his title in Britland, and how in only one year he would have beaten the Honky Tonk Man's record. William Regal interrupts to a hero's welcome. He wins a basic match with a knee to the head, then gives a long promo about how proud he is of the Queen, and how it fills him with pride to be "our" Intercontinental Champion.

(2) Women's Title match - Beth Phoenix defeated Candice Michelle with Mickie James as special referee. Another basic match, as expected. Main talking point was Mickie dropping the title belt after Beth finally handed it over. Has to be said - Mickie is HOT in the flesh! After the match, James and Michelle double-teamed Phoenix.

(3) Haas Hogan defeated D'Lo Brown. Haas Hogan was massively over with the crowd, dominated by D'Lo early on, but Hulked up to take the win following the big leg drop. After the match, he invited kids into the ring to go through the Hogan routine. Good fun, Haas was massively over with this gimmick!

(4) Tag Title match - Kofi Kingston & C.M. Punk defeated Cody Rhodes & Manu. I was in the bar for most of this match, but Punk won with the GTS.

(5) Kane defeated Snitsky. Exactly what you'd expect.

(6) Shawn Michaels defeated JBL. JBL came out and gave a huge rant about how funny it is that British people bow down to a woman, and how great America is. Then he gave an awful rendition of America the Beautiful. Eventually HBK came out to a HUGE reaction - no one was expecting him to be there tonight. After a so-so match, HBK wins it with Sweet Chin Music.

(7) Batista & Rey Mysterio defeated Chris Jericho & Randy Orton. Straightforward tag match. Batista got the pin with a Batistabomb on Orton following a double 619 by Mysterio on the heels. Mysterio looked really out of place in this match, as it looked like he was just tagging along with his big friend Batista!
