TNA "Maximum Impact" Tour house show results
January 23, 2010
Glasgow, Scotland
Report by Stewart Loosemore, Torch reader

The arena wasn't sold out. This was probably due to the £50/ $70 price tag. On a side note, they used the six-sided ring. Some guy came out and introduced Jeremy Borash, who was the announcer for the night. He tried to pump up the crowd by offering backstage passes to the loudest fans.

(1) X Division champion Amazing Red beat Chris Sabin. The crowd wasn't really into this, but I blame that on being match one. It was a good back-and-forth match with Red coming out with the win.

(2) Hernandez beat Rhino. I don't know why, but I can't seem to remember much about this apart from a Hernandez win.

(3) TNA Global champion Eric Young beat Suicide. Suicide was easily a crowd favorite and dominated most the match. The match ended when EY hit a low blow and then the piledriver for the win.

There was a 15-minute break after this match where the people who won passes were allowed backstage.

(4) TNA Knockout tag champion Hamada beat Sarita. This would have been the Knockout tag title match, but it turned into a singles match as Awesome Kong didn't come with the tour. I really enjoyed this match. It was a refreshing change to see a women's wrestling match with women who could actually wrestle. Hamada came out with the win.

(5) Kurt Angle beat Desmond Wolfe and Daniels in a three-way match. This was easily the match of the night. Angle won after all three men hit their respective finishers.

(6) Team 3D (Brother Ray & Brother Devon) beat British Invasion (Doug Williams & Brutus Magnus) and Beer Money (James Storm & Robert Roode) in a three-way Tables match. Each team came out and did a bit on the mic. The British Invasion came out complaining that they were getting booed in the UK and started insulting the Scottish parliament. Good heel promo. They were interrupted by Beer Money, who offered more backstage passes and finally Team 3D came out and announced that the match was now a tables match. This was pretty much a four-on-three match, as Beer Money and Team 3D focused on the three members of British Invasion. Team 3D won. After the match, they brought a young kid in and gave him a section of the broken table.

(7) TNA World Hvt. champion A.J. Styles beat Samoa Joe. The referee was Earl Hebner. This was an amazing match and had great highpoints. It ended with a ref bump, and while the ref was down, Joe locked in the rear naked choke and Styles tapped out. Joe then let go to check on the ref and Styles hit a low blow, then the Styles Clash for the win.

At the end of the match, Styles cut a promo about siding with the dirtiest player in the game, Ric Flair. (Side note that the Genesis PPV was only available on BT Vision, which is only available in a couple thousand homes. I doubt many people were aware of the Styles heel turn, which surprised a few people on the night.)

Overall, a good night, and I hope they come back again, hopefully with a slightly cheaper price.
