TNA "Maximum Impact" tour house show report
January 27, 2010
Cardiff, Wales
Report by Evan Jones, Torch reader

TNA's house show was awesome and so much better than the WWE Raw or Smackdown shows I've seen in Cardiff. I should add that Jeremy Borash was the host for the evening and he gave out a lot of backstage passes. Also the ring was six-sided, which was nice! The order of matches, as far as I remember, was as follows.

Sabin_Torch_14.jpg
(1) X Division champion Amazing Red beat Chris Sabin and Suicide in a three-way match. This was an great match full of big spots, high-flying moves, and general mayhem. Amazing Red won with his finishing maneuver off the top turnbuckle.

(2) Sarita & Taylor Wilde beat Beautiful People (Velvet Sky & Madison Rayne) with Hamada as special referee. Good, fun match with the BP showing off their assets a lot.

(3) Rob Terry beat TNA Global champion Eric Young to capture the Global Title. This was well set-up. They announced that Rob Terry was from Cardiff, Wales, so the crowd went mental and supported him. EY did some anti-Welsh, pro-English stuff on the mic, which pissed off the audience. Terry then won the title to a massive pop.

(4) Kurt Angle & Team 3D (Brother Ray & Brother Devon) beat TNA tag champion Hernandez & The Pope & Rhino in a Tables match. It was brilliant how they introduced Kurt. Team 3D did their entrance and they said they found a partner. They talked up their partner as "some young guy with a lot of potential who we may or may not have heard of," which kept the audience guessing. After about five minutes, the lights went off, there was a 10-second pause, and Angle's music hit to a big pop. The crowd kept chanting, "We want tables," so Angle got on the mic and said, Wwell the fans don't want an ordinary match, so lets give them what they want!" At the end, Rhino took an Olympic slam through the table.

(5) Beer Money (James Storm & Robert Roode) beat British Invasion (Doug Williams & Brutus Magnus). There were lots of crowd chants supporting Beer Money, who inevitably won in a good match.

(6) Samoa Joe beat Daniels in an I Quit match. This was a surprise, as the main event that had been advertised was A.J. vs. Samoa Joe. Good match, though. Joe was very much the fan favorite. Joe eventually made Daniels give up in his submission finisher.

(7) TNA World Hvt. champion A.J. Styles beat Desmond Wolfe to retain the TNA World Title in the main event. The match was given a 60-minute time limit and they went about 25 minutes. Awesome match. A.J. was very popular (despite the heel turn on TV). They presented him as the babyface in this match because of Desmond Wolfe's London connection. Wolfe played up to this very well, slagging off the Welsh. A.J. finished him with the Pele kick followed by the Styles Clash. He had previously taken the Tower of London to tease a victory for Wolfe, but Styles was too close to the ropes.
