TNA house show report
March 14, 2010
Wheeling, West Virginia
Report by Trent Cunningham, Torch reader

This was the first time TNA has come to the Wheeling/Moundsville area, so this was a really great event. As far as attendance goes, it was between 85 and 90 percent full and there was a great energy throughout the crowd. I don't think the audience has a very wide knowledge of the TNA product, but I'm really excited that people came out to see the show. Don West was in great salesman form and Jeremy Borash got the show going.

(1) X Division champion Doug Williams beat Amazing Red and Kazarian in a three-way X Division Title match. This was a great match to introduce the X Division to those who were unfamiliar and there were some really good spots. Williams retained.

(2) Rhino beat Dr. Stevie. Stevie came down to a resounding "B-W-O" chant, which got a good laugh from me. After Rhino came out to a great pop, "E-C-W" chants were popping up. The really interesting point in this match was when Stevie mocked Rhino's gore set-up, but missed and Rhino hit one for himself for the win.

(3) Knockouts tag champions The Beautiful People (Angelina Love & Velvet Sky) beat Taylor Wilde & Sarita. This match was pretty forgettable. The number one, most-heavily-used move in this match was the armdrag - several in a row, no matter what team was on the offensive strike. There were some pretty sloppy spots from Taylor and Sarita, which really surprised me. Beautiful People retained.

(4) Abyss beat TNA World Hvt. champion A.J. Styles; Styles retained the TNA World Title. The first thing I noticed was that neither competitor got much of a pop. Later in the match, A.J. started to get momentum and the crowd got behind him. Despite A.J. getting blatantly DQ'ed, Abyss got to "Hulk up" and get some revenge.

Intermission allowed for some autographs and merchandise was sold.

(5) Global champion Rob Terry beat Brutus Magnus. Squash. Pure and simple. Magnus tried to get the crowd to shut up and allow him to sing his National Anthem when Rob hit the ring. Little to no offense from Magnus, but Rob looked pretty good in the ring. Big Rob retains.

(6) Pope D'Angelo Dinero beat Desmond Wolfe. Great match. Wolfe came out to pretty strong heat and worked the crowd pretty well. Pope came out to a HUGE pop, largely due to the fact he was interacting with the crowd during autographs. Desmond kept up the work he did on Pope's leg last Monday and locked in some solid submissions. Good back and forth exchanges with another huge pop when Pope picked up the win.

(7) Jeff Jarrett & Kurt Angle beat Beer Money (Robert Roode & James Storm). Huge pop for Jarrett and especially for Angle. Good humor in this match with interactions from Earl Hebner and James Storm. Jeff tore up both Beer Money t-shirts and wiped both his and Hebner's ass with them. Match was pretty gimmicky, with lots of awkward moments from the members of Beer Money. Also, let it be said that I never wanted to see that much of James Storm as we did.

Biggest Pops:

-- Kurt Angle/Jeff Jarrett (tie)
-- Pope D'Angelo
-- Rhino

Biggest Heat:

-- Desmond Wolfe
-- Beer Money
-- Brutus Magnus
