TNA house show results
July 6, 2012
N. Charleston, S.C.
Report by Jim H., PWTorch reader

Maybe about 1,000 people at the North Charleston Coliseum. Jeremy Borash warmed up the crowd to get things underway.

(1) A.J. Styles pinned Gunner. A.J. was in control early, but Gunner gained the advantage after catching A.J. trying a springboard off the barricade and slamming him into the ringpost. After Gunner got in some offense, A.J. made a comeback. He went for the Styles Clash, but Gunner blocked it. They traded some more offense and Gunner got a convincing nearfall. A.J. went for the Styles Clash again, but couldn't get Gunner up. After 2-3 attempts at this, he gave up and hit a Pele Kick for the pin. After the match, A.J. had a brief conversation with JB and they laughed.

(2) Knockouts champion Miss Tessmacher pinned Gail Kim to retain the Knockouts Championship. Earl Hebner got his own ring introduction. He did his usual schtick, including wearing a pair of Hit Man sunglasses. Tess got the better of things early and Gail went outside to re-group. Gail took control and worked on Tess's knee. Tess fought back, but Gail got a stinkface in the corner. She went for Eat Defeat, but Tess blocked it and hit her finisher for the pin.

(3) James Storm pinned Kazarian. Kaz came out first and cut a promo. He said he doesn't like the weather or the women in South Carolina. He also doesn't like beer-drinkers. Speaking of which, here comes the Cowboy. Storm took the mic and said we're in South Carolina, home of the Gamecocks, which is fitting for both of them - he's got game and Kaz likes cocks. The crowd starts a "You Like Cocks!" chant. This led to some stalling from Kaz. He engaged in a lengthy conversation with some folks at ringside, which was too much for Storm, who took the fight to him on the outside. Storm had a fan hold up his foot against the barricade and rammed Kaz's head into it. After getting the cheap heat/pops and comedy spots out of the way, the two had a decent wrestling match. Storm controlled at first, but Kaz took advantage after blocking a German suplex by grabbing the referee and giving Storm a low blow. Storm eventually won after a codebreaker and then the Last Call. He celebrated with a beer at ringside.

(4) Jeff Hardy pinned Christopher Daniels for 7 points in a Bound For Glory Series match. Daniels came out and cut a promo the gist of which was that he's awesome and the fact that everyone in the audience is such trash makes him look even better. He wanted no part of Hardy at first. He tried to re-group on the outside, but Hardy took the fight to him. Daniels then tried to make nice, but Hardy was having none of it. A rake of the eyes proved to be an equalizer, though, and Daniels spent a lot of time working over Hardy's left arm. Hardy came back with a kick. The two traded offense. Daniels then missed a moonsault and Hardy hit the Twist of Fate for the pin and 7 points.

[ Intermission. JB announced that per Hulk Hogan, Aries-Roode later tonight will be for the title. ]

(5) Kurt Angle defeated The Pope via submission for 10 points in a Bound For Glory Series match. Pope came out and cut a promo. It seems his luggage got lost, which, he claims, wouldn't have happened in Clemson. The crowd bood. He's not in a wrestling mood, he's in a fighting mood. Angle came out and controlled early. Pope hit a neckbreaker, but missed a running knee. Angle hit the Angle Slam and then forced Pope to tap out to the anklelock for 10 points. Quick match.

Next was the Roode vs. Aries main event. Roode came out and said his lawyers in Canada had taken action to ensure that this was NOT a title match. But, he was still going to make an example of Aries in front of all of us right here in "Charleston, West Virginia." He was then informed that he was in South Carolina, which he claimed was "even worse." Aries then grabbed the mic and said it didn't matter whether he got his title shot tonight or on Sunday. He said he was so confident he could beat Roode tonight that he'd put his title shot on Sunday on the line. Roode was amenable to that and the match started.

(6) Austin Aries pinned TNA World Hvt. champion Bobby Roode in a non-title match to retain his title shot at Destination X. Lots of U-S-A chants. Roode stalled at first, then they traded offense. Aries countered a spear attempt into a submission maneuver, but Roode got out. Roode applied a crossface twice, but Aries escaped. Frustrated, Roode tried to bring the title belt in, but Brian Hebner took it away. Roode shoved Hebner, who shoved him back into a roll-up attempt by Aries, but Roode kicked out at two, even with a quick count. Aries went for the Brainbuster, but Roode countered it and there was a ref bump as he did so. Roode nailed Aries with the title belt and revived Hebner, but Aries kicked out at two-and-a-half. Roode went for a Northern Lights suplex, but Aries countered into a small package for a three count. Roode sold disbelief while Aries celebrated with the belt for a bit before allowing Roode to retrieve it. Aries then remained in the ring for pictures with fans for $20. Excellent match. Best of the night.

Good show, overall.
