WWE Supershow results
January 24, 2015
E. Rutherford, N.J. at the Izod Center
Report by VIP member Bob Pisack w/assist from Julian Pisack

(1) IC champion Bad News Barrett beat Dolph Ziggler and Luke Harper in a triple threat match to retain the Intercontinental Title. Great pop for Dolph. The heels went after Ziggler for the first five minutes until BNB threw Harper out of the ring. Barrett then worked over Dolph while Harper bought time on the outside. Harper then took his turn beating on Dolph until all three brawled, leading to Barrett hitting Ziggler with the Bullhamer elbow for the win.

(2) Darren Young beat Tyson Kidd. New look for Young with a beard and haircut. He won in five minutes with a roll-up. Young looks in better shape than his last run and definitely more engaging with the crowd.

Seth Rollins appeared on the video screen talking about the Royal Rumble and beating John Cena tonight. He's money on the mic, it's crazy.

(3) U.S. champion Rusev (w/Lana) beat Erick Rowan via submission to retain the U.S. Title. Lana drew the "USA" chants with a promo telling everyone to shut up. She made a comment about Izod Center being shuttered as an example of American decline. She really has great writers who have a knack for saying just the thing to get people riled up. Out came Rusev's opponent, Eric Rowan. Rusev failed to move Rowan with four shoulder blocks, producing a sustained "Erick Rowan" chant, followed by "USA." Rusev took over for the next five minutes or so, followed by a bit of back & forth before Rusev applied The Accolade for the win.

Next was Chris Jericho's Highlight Reel. Huge pop again. He put down Triple H's nose and Stephanie McMahon for being a dirty, stinking ... to make the crowd chant "ho." Out came Cesaro with another speech about the greatness of the Millennials. He talked about the post-WrestleMania 29 Raw from Izod Center and how Europeans took over the show. He then said what's better then this "s---hole" closing is "me beating the s---" out of you. Weird to hear that twice after Jericho wouldn't say "ho" and made the crowd do it. Jericho then challenged Cesaro to a fight.

(4) Chris Jericho beat Cesaro. Cesaro mostly controlled the match and looked in really great shape, even more then usual. Cesaro did the Big Swing, only to fall into the Codebreaker from Jericho.

(5) Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns beat Bray Wyatt & Big Show. These were supposed to be two single matches. Apparently WWE realized Reigns needs to be protected a bit longer, while also putting back together two-thirds of The Shield. The match started with Reigns and Ambrose on the offensive against Wyatt. Show and Bray turned the tables and alternated beating on Ambrose for a large portion of the match to work the crowd into a frenzy waiting for the hot tag to Reigns. Finally, a top-rope DDT to Show brought in Reigns. Spear, Superman Punch, and Big Show broke up the pin. All four men were in the ring, then Ambrose clotheslined Show out of the ring and Reigns reversed Sister Abigail and hit the spear for the win.

[Intermission]

(6) Natalya & Paige beat Alicia Fox & Cameron via submission. Natalya won with the Sharpshooter.

(7) Ryback beat Kane. Ryback's entrance rocked the arena, but it was hard to tell if it was the reaction or just the sheer volume his music was played at. Kane controlled the first few minutes over a number of "Feed me more" chants. Ryback slid out of the chokeslam and hit a Meathook Clothesline into Shell-shock for the win. Decent match between the big men.

Video package on the best of WWE at the Izod Center.

(8) John Cena beat Seth Rollins in a Steel Cage match. Cena came out to "Let's Go Cena, Cena Sucks" chants. Great back & forth match and dueling chants. After about 15 minutes, Big Show came out and hit Cena in the head with the cage door and chokeslammed, both for two counts. Big Show set up for the KO Punch, but Cena ducked and delivered the AA to Show, then to Rollins for the pin.

Cena closed out the show thanking the fans and the Izod Center for the memories. Decent energy for the show the night before the Royal Rumble.

- Biggest Pops: Cena, Jericho, Ryback.

- Biggest Heat: Rollins, Rusev, Big Show.
