MMATorch Update: Tito Ortiz, B.J. Penn, Wanderlei Silva, Sean Sherk all on Saturday's UFC 84 PPV May 23, 2008 - 12:29:44 PM
MMATorch.com, our sister site, will be covering Saturday night's UFC 84 live as it happens. We also have some preview content available right now.
Later today, check UGO.com for my front page view of the UFC 84 PPV.
If you are an MMA fan, be sure to begin checking MMATorch.com more regularly as PWTorch contributor Jamie Penick is shifting to a role as editor of MMATorch starting officially June 1. I will be shifting to a supervising editor role. Jamie will be able to dedicate more time to the day-to-day updates and coordinating contributors than I have been able to, so the site will be amped up considerably in coming weeks.
Bruce Mitchell will also be contributing to the site on a semi-regular basis starting this summer. (You can read his first MMATorch.com column here
If you are interesting in joining our already robust team of MMATorch contributors who are getting ready for what amounts to a "relaunch" in June, send Jamie an email with what you have in mind. His email is mmatorcheditor@gmail.com. He is current moving, so his internet access will be limited until the middle of next week, so please be patient with receiving a response.
We would love to receive your post-UFC PPV "Reader Reax" comments after Saturday night's event. If you watch it at home, at a friend's house, or at a bar, please consider sending us your comments in the form of a 0-10 score (for overall entertainment value) and picks for best and worst fights, and then a paragraph of thoughts on the happenings to: mmatorch@gmail.com.
We're exciting to have the pieces in place to really make MMATorch what I originally envisioned it could become. Now is a great time for that to happen with so much happening in the MMA world this summer, from Brock Lesnar's second fight (against an opponent to be determined, as Mark Coleman is out with an injury) to CBS's EXC prime time specials to NBC's late-night MMA series.
The site is still in the pre-relaunch stage, but daily news updates, daily columns, live event coverage, polls, contests, and more will become regular starting in June.
