ETC. News: Nick Hogan's mom offers excuses, lawyer no longer with Hogans, Nick denied request Sep 19, 2007 - 1:09:40 PM
There haven't been any updates in the past week on the condition of Nick Hogan's passenger in the crash of several weeks ago. There are three updates on the Nick Hogan situation, though:
--Nick was denied access to his wrecked Toyota Supra: News Link.
--Prominent Tampa layer Barry Cohen is no longer representing Nick: News Link
--Nick's mother, Linda, says "what 17 year old doesn't get tickets?" She also explained that the side of Nick people see on "Hogan Knows Best" is just a slice of his personality. While he can be a mischievous prankster as seen on TV, he is a good kid. She said since the accident, they'll all been grief-stricken.
WK ANALYSIS: Still, nothing to indicate anything but excuses being offered by adults in Nick's life. His mother is actually excusing Nick's driving behavior. He wasn't going 44 in a 30 or 79 in a 65. He has multiple incidents of being stopped for going over 100 MPH, and well over the speed limit in streets, not highways. It's no wonder Nick felt entitled to risk the lives of everyone around him for a selfish thrill in his car; his adult role models clearly condone or at least excuse it. "What 17 year old doesn't get tickets?" asks Linda. I have a better question: "What decent, responsible parent doesn't take the driving privileges away from a 17 year old son who gets caught speeding over 100 mph or gets multiple speeding tickets?" That's the real question.
