WEEKEND PREVIEW, NEWS & NOTES
This is a fairly light indy weekend, but more big shows are coming next week. There are two big shows this weekend, one in the Chicago suburbs, and the other in the former ECW arena.
NWA Midwest, Sept. 22, Streamwood, Ill., the rec center, with Brent Albright vs. Jay Ryan, Bull Pain & Tank vs. Hardcore Craig & Corp. Robinson, the debut of Billy Kidman, and matches with the Mississippi Madman, Jason Dukes, Amazing Kong and MsChif.
Chikara Pro, Sept. 22, Philadelphia, Penn., at New Alhambra Arena, 7 p.m., with Delirious & Hallowicked vs. UltraMantis Black & Hydra, a 16-man tag match featuring Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli, Fire Ant & Soldier Ant & Worker Ant vs. Eddie Kingston & Joker & Sabian, Mike Quackenbush vs. Tim Donst.
B-Boy has announced he will retire from pro wrestling at the end of the year. B-Boy has wrestled for 9 years, and he’s been all over the indy scene in recent years, from ROH to JAPW to IWA Mid-South to CZW to PWG. He will definitely be missed.
One of the top indy wrestlers in Minnesota, Arik Cannon will head to Japan for nearly six weeks from late October through early December. Cannon is promoter of F1rst Wrestling in Minneapolis, and that promotion will be on hiatus while Cannon is overseas.
Another top Minnesotan wrestler, Rain, has relocated to Florida. She is definitely missed on the local scene here.
I have updated the info on the IWA Mid-South “Ted Petty Invitational” tournament below.
And you can always reach me with your indy results at chrisjvetter@hotmail.com. I request that you remember to say date, location (including building, city & state!), and full name of the promotion.
