Torch Indy Weekend Preview: Hero-Scorpio in IWA, Aries in AAW, Mark Briscoe out of FIP shows
Sep 26, 2007 - 5:05:31 PM

Torch Indy Reporter Chris Vetter travels thousands of miles each year to see dozens of indy shows all over the Midwest. His reports covering the entire U.S. Indy Scene are usually published exclusively here at PWTorch.com every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

WEEKEND PREVIEW, NEWS & NOTES

Yes, the weekend preview comes on Wednesday, as I’ll be off for the rest of the week. I’m planning to attend night 1 of the IWA Mid-South “Ted Petty Invitational” on Friday in the Chicago area, featuring Human Tornado, Chris Hero, Too Cold Scorpio, Mike Quackenbush and Claudio Castagnoli. But, rather than go to “night two” on Saturday, I’ll head to the AAW show, also in the Chicago area, which will feature Tyler Black, Austin Aries, Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, Joey Mercury and M-Dogg 20.

The other big shows this weekend are the FIP doubleheader in Florida, which will feature Roderick Strong, Delirous, and Jay Briscoe, and the stars of Chikara Pro. Mark Briscoe will be out of action because of an ankle injury.

Congratulations to Milwaukee-based standout Silas Young for wrestling The Miz on ECW on Tuesday! Silas appeared on both ROH shows in the Midwest earlier this month and had a strong showing. I’ve watched Silas wrestle for several years now, and he’s made my “top 10” list of MN/WI indy wrestlers the past three years.

Future DVD Reviews: I JUST posted a review of PWG’s excellent “All Star Weekend, Night 1” from April 7, 2007. Go read the review and BUY THIS DVD! I have finished watching a JAPW show from April, an AAW show from April, and I’m wrapping up one of the June ROH shows, so those will come next week, along with my field reports from the big shows this weekend. On the top of my stack are the Japan ROH shows, the second PWG “All Star Weekend V” show. So, I have plenty to watch & review!

And you can always reach me with your indy results at chrisjvetter@hotmail.com. I request that you remember to say date, location (including building, city & state!), and full name of the promotion.

I will cut back somewhat as it seems a little pricey
I will cut back drastically as this feels like gouging
Out of principle and protest, I will stop ordering any other than maybe WM
They had previously priced me out of the market, so this affirms my non-ordering habits
I will order any and all WWE PPVs because price isn't an issue for me
