By Chris Vetter

Torch Indy Reporter Chris Vetter travels thousands of miles each year to see dozens of indy shows all over the Midwest. His reports covering the entire U.S. Indy Scene are usually published exclusively here at PWTorch.com every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

WEEKEND RESULTS, NEWS & NOTES

In Pro Wrestling Guerrilla on Sunday, Bryan Danielson defeated Jack Evans to retain the PWG World Heavyweight title. Unfortunately, Davey Richards missed the show, so the tag titles were not defended. Results are below. In a bit of a surprise, PWG announced that this was the final show of the year, as they have chosen not to run any December events. Learn more at www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com.

In a surprise move, Jerry Lynn won the ECWA “Super 8” tournament on Saturday. Make no mistake – I’m a HUGE Jerry Lynn fan and think he’s a tremendous talent. But, this tournament is usually used to launch an unknown wrestler (Low Ki, Matt Hardy, Austin Aries, Paul London, Davey Richards in the past) to the “next level.” So, having a 42-year-old man win it is a bit of a twist. East Coast Wrestling Association will return on Dec. 1 with a “Hall of Fame” ceremony featuring Low Ki, Sebastian Night, The Iron Man, and Gary McLaughlin.

In Full Impact Pro on Friday, Sal Rinauro defeated Erick Stevens to win the Heritage title, and Kenny King & Jason Blade won the tag titles from the Briscoes. Results are below.

2CW in New York boasts a paid crowd of 350 for its show on Friday and about 120 on Saturday. The events featured Bryan Danielson, Samoa Joe and Matt (Spike Dudley) Hyson. Results of both cards are below.

U-Gene Dinsmore debuted for EWF in Indiana on Friday, and those results are below. Learn more at www.ewfarena.com. In other EWF news, Roddy Piper will host a Piper’s Pit this Saturday.

In other news…

International Wrestling Cartel out of Elizabeth, Penn., is having a HUGE doubleheader on Dec. 7 & 8. The Dec. 7 show features A.J. Styles vs. Homicide vs. Christopher Daniels, Low Ki vs. John McChesney, Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley vs. Matt Cross & Josh Prohibition. On Dec. 8, Samoa Joe, Delirious, Sandman, Eric Young and Shane Douglas will all be there. (Douglas in a non-wrestling role, it appears.) Check out www.iwcwrestling.com for all the details. I am a huge IWC fan, and this should be a great weekend of wrestling!

JAPW announced it will head to Jersey City, N.J., on Jan. 19, with Low Ki, Cryme Tyme, Hotstuff Hernandez, Homicide, Teddy Hart.

Future DVD Reviews: I have several new reviews coming this week! Tomorrow, I’ll post a review from IWR out of Detroit. Later this week will feature reviews from AWA RUSH in Minnesota and AAW out of the Chicago suburbs. I’ve also started watching the “Wrestling Society X” complete first season, and I also should be getting some ROH DVDs today or tomorrow. So, look for those reviews soon!

And you can always reach me with your indy results at chrisjvetter@hotmail.com. I request that you remember to say date, location (including building, city & state!), and full name of the promotion.
