Torch Indy Weekend Preview: Chikara finale, Jake Roberts, Scorpio, Rikishi
Nov 16, 2007 - 4:10:17 PM

By Chris Vetter

Torch Indy Reporter Chris Vetter travels thousands of miles each year to see dozens of indy shows all over the Midwest. His reports covering the entire U.S. Indy Scene are usually published exclusively here at PWTorch.com every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

WEEKEND PREVIEW, NEWS & NOTES

This is a relatively quiet weekend for indy wrestling, as most of the major indies are off. The biggest shows are the three-day “Season Finale” for Chikara Pro. One of the things I really like about Chikara is they take December & January off, so it really does make these shows the 2007 finale, and they come back fresh in 2008. The best show appears to be the last one, on Sunday in Philadelphia, Penn., with Lince Dorado vs. Mitch Ryder, Claudio Castagnoli vs. Chris Hero, Eddie Kingston vs. Hallowicked in a falls count anywhere match. Learn more at www.chikarapro.com.

Jake Roberts, Christy Hemme and Junior (Rikishi) Fatu will wrestle Saturday in Duluth, Minn., for Heavy on Wrestling.

Too Cold Scorpio returns to Pro Wrestling Unplugged on Saturday in Philadelphia.

In other news…

Do you remember WCW Saturday Night jobber Hardbody Harrison? According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, former pro wrestler Harrison "Hardbody" Norris Jr. is facing the match of his life in an Atlanta federal courtroom: he is on trial for allegedly keeping nine women as sex slaves. Norris, 41, could be sent to prison for at least 20 years if convicted of the charges.
The paper says that to date, trial testimony has painted a portrait of brutal bondage, involving head butts, mindgames and forced orgies in which women were forced to have sex with up to eight men one a single occasion. The women who have testified said Norris pimped them out at Latino nightclubs, trailer parks and parties until three of them ran to police during a shopping trip in Smyrna. Norris, who is serving as his own attorney, countered that the women willingly entered his homes - living with his wife and one of his three children - because they wanted to train as pro wrestlers, and that many of them arrived on drugs and left in the best shape of their lives.

Smart Mark Video has a 25 percent off sale today and tomorrow for orders over $75. Visit www.smartmarkvideo.com and check out some good Chikara, IWA Mid-South and UWA Hardcore stuff.

And you can always reach me with your indy results at chrisjvetter@hotmail.com. I request that you remember to say date, location (including building, city & state!), and full name of the promotion.

I buy many PPVs a year and will continue to do so regardless
I buy a few PPVs a year and will selectively continue despite the price raise
I will cut back somewhat as it seems a little pricey
I will cut back drastically as this feels like gouging
Out of principle and protest, I will stop ordering any other than maybe WM
They had previously priced me out of the market, so this affirms my non-ordering habits
I will order any and all WWE PPVs because price isn't an issue for me
