MIDWEEK NEWS & NOTES

With the holidays looming, the indy circuit has become very quiet. PWG, FIP and Chikara are taking December off, and JAPW has already held its year-end show. Thus, there are only a couple of big shows this weekend.

AAW remains as the hot indy promotion in suburban Chicago, and they’ll be in action on Saturday, with Jerry Lynn defending his title against an un-named opponent. Also, Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin vs. the Phoenix Twins, Silas Young vs. Krotch, Arik Cannon vs. Chris Hero vs. Josh Abercrombie vs. Tyler Black, Jimmy Jacobs vs. Jayson Reign. Looks like a good show. Absolute Intense Wrestling returns to Cleveland, Ohio, on Sunday with Steve Corino vs. Sterling James Keenan vs. Dios Salvador.

Philadelphia-based Pro Wrestling Unplugged has updated its lineup for Saturday, which features Demolition, Sandman, 2 Cold Scorpio and the Blue Meanie. More information is below.

WXW in Coplay, Penn., has canceled its show for Saturday because of winter storm forecasts.

I’ve taken a short hiatus from attending Midwest indy shows – quite frankly, nothing has stood out to me lately. BUT, after a few month sabbatical (largely because promoter Arik Cannon was touring in Japan), F1rst Wrestling in Minneapolis will return on Friday, Jan. 25th. If you live in and around the Twin Cities and want to see the best of the ROH-style wrestlers in the Midwest, this is a show to attend! Twin Cities native ODB returns for her first singles match in the state in years, as she faces Ann Brookstone.
