NWA News: NWA announces Ric Flair for 2008 Hall of Fame class May 29, 2008 - 11:09:58 PM
National Wrestling Alliance announced today that Ric Flair has been added to the 2008 Hall of Fame class. Flair joins the current Class of Tommy Rich, Iron Sheik, the Midnight Express, Nikita Koloff, and the Corsica Brothers. They will be inducted at the NWA's anniversary show at Phillips Arena in Atlanta on June 7.
"With Ric Flair’s involvement, I’d say our 60th Anniversary event is truly going to be a history making one," said NWA executive director Robert Trobich in the company's press release. "I have been around the NWA longer than anyone and I can tell you this marks the first time in close to 20 years that Flair is going to step into an NWA building."
Confirming Flair for a Hall of Fame induction wasn't a done-deal until recently after NWA officials had been talking about adding Flair to the Atlanta show for the past few months. Flair is the signature wrestler they were hoping to add to the show line-up to help boost ticket sales locally.
