ETC. News: Jesse Ventura in talks for a court show, according to TV Week (w/Keller Analysis) Aug 18, 2008 - 5:16:33 PM
TV Week reports that Jesse Ventura is close to penning a deal with 20th Century Fox Television to be a celebrity judge on a TV courtroom show that would be syndicated for daytime television. It would debut in 2009.
Keller's Analysis: I can just hear him now. Someone complains about a loud garage project using power tools that's waking a neighbor up at 3 a.m. Jesse would rule in favor of the person making noise because he's current working on his own garage project that makes noise and doesn't want to set a precedent that could harm his own life. If anyone sued the media for anything, Jesse would immediately rule in their favor because he hates the media. If someone with a conspiracy theory presented a case without evidence or flimsy evidence, but it was anti-authority and had a libertarian perspective at its core, he'd rule in their favor because he's a libertarian. Then he could act as judge just as he did as governor and mayor! From a TV ratings standpoint, it could be a success. As MSNBC and KFAN learned the hard way, though, Jesse doesn't like production meetings and he's "too good" to ever need to prepare ahead of attend silly meetings. However, being off-the-cuff in a pretaped entertainment court show is less dangerous than being live on national cable, live calling a football game, or governing.
