Torch Indy Weekend Report: Jacobs vs. Mercury in AAW, Quackenbush, Shannon Moore, Chris Harris
Sep 9, 2008 - 4:02:00 PM

By Chris Vetter, torch contributor

Torch Indy Reporter Chris Vetter sees dozens of indy shows all over the Midwest, and regularly watches & reviews indy DVDs. His reports covering the entire U.S. Indy Scene are usually published exclusively here at PWTorch.com every Monday and Friday.

WEEKEND RESULTS, NEWS & NOTES

This has just been a slow stretch for indy wrestling.

In AAW in suburban Chicago on Saturday, Joey “Mercury” Matthews defeated Jimmy Jacobs, and the team of Josh Raymond (formerly Josh Abercrombie) & Keith Walker (released from WWE earlier this year) defeated ROH star Tyler Black and Silas Young (who also was released from WWE earlier this year.) Sounds like a good show.

Chikara Pro held a double-header in Pennsylvania over the weekend, and I have results of both shows. Claudio Castagnoli defeated Brodie Lee in a steel cage match in the former ECW arena to end night 2.

In other news…

Gail Kim will wrestle for Booker T’s Pro Wrestling Alliance Show on Sept. 18th in Pasadena, Texas. Also on the card are 2 Cold Scorpio and Chris Masters.

PWG has posted the lineup for its next big show on Sunday, Sept. 21, featuring Chris Hero vs. El Generico and Bryan Danielson vs. Davey Richards. The full lineup is below.

Chris Harris (Braden Walker) is taking indy dates since his release from WWE, and he will wrestle for Northern Wrestling Federation on Sept. 13th in Fort Wright, Kent.

Another recently released WWE superstar, Shannon Moore will appear at the Power Pro Wrestling show on Oct. 4th in Little River, S.C.

And you can always reach me with your indy results at chrisjvetter@hotmail.com. I request that you remember to say date, location (including building, city & state!), and full name of the promotion.

I will cut back somewhat as it seems a little pricey
I will cut back drastically as this feels like gouging
Out of principle and protest, I will stop ordering any other than maybe WM
They had previously priced me out of the market, so this affirms my non-ordering habits
I will order any and all WWE PPVs because price isn't an issue for me
