WEEKEND RESULTS, NEWS & NOTES
First and foremost… I’m back! Without getting into all the gory details, a lot of layoffs at work has put me in a downward spiral. I kept my job; many around me did not. But, I want to get back into doing something I love, and that’s talking about wresting.
The big indy show of the weekend was the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla “Battle of Los Angeles” tournament in California. The past couple of years, this was a three-day, 24-man tournament. It was scaled back this year to be a two-day event, with 17 wrestlers (including a three-way match in the first round.) Low Ki won the tournament, but did NOT win the PWG title. I am very excited to see this show when it is released on DVD. Learn more at www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com.
In the Chicago area, both IWA Mid-South and AAW ran shows on Saturday, and results of both events are below. The AAW show looks better on paper, featuring Jimmy Jacobs, Tyler Black, Josh Raymond and Arik Cannon.
In other news…
Gangrel and Joe E. Legend (who even knew he was still competing?) will wrestle on a tour in France on Dec. 20th for ICWA.
Brutus Beefcake and Sunny will appear at three shows in Canada at the end of this month – Nov. 27th in Cornwall, Ontario, Nov. 28th in Ottawa, and Nov. 29th in Montreal.
Big Daddy V, Jim Duggan, Velvet Sky will compete for Northeast Wrestling on Dec. 6 in Waterbury, Conn.
AGAIN… it is going to take me a while to build up my list of upcoming indy events. So, please start firing them at me again!
And you can always reach me with your indy results at chrisjvetter@hotmail.com. I request that you remember to say date, location (including building, city & state!), and full name of the promotion.
