Collectibles News

-- Ringside Collectibles teased an NWO takeover last week, which culminated with the announcement of an exclusive figure of Randy Savage in New World Order attire. This particular figure is a first in many respects: it is the first NWO toy made by Mattel since the company took over the WWE line, and it is also the first modern era NWO-style Randy Savage figure. More information on this new figure can be found at ringsidecollectibles.com.

-- Mattel’s collectibles website, mattycollector.com, is offering its second exclusive WWE Legends figure. Diamond Dallas Page is available for for $19.99. The third figure in the series, King Kong Bundy, will likely go on sale in July. Interestingly enough, that figure is being marketed only as “Bundy,” probably to avoid copyright disputes over the King Kong name.

-- WWE is including a signed card of John Cena with its new “Salute the Cenation” merchandise package of Cena’s new gear. These are currently being sold for $56.99 for child-sized gear and $59.99 for men’s and women’s apparel.

-- Mattel has also unveiled the line-ups for a new series of basic WWE figures and the 16th series of Battle Packs two-packs. The 19th series of figures is made up primarily of wrestlers who already have several Mattel toys out there, including Hornswoggle and Kofi Kingston. The only first-time figure in this line is Jinder Mahal. The 16th Battle Packs series will feature John Cena and C.M. Punk from their feud last summer, along with Rey Mysterio and The Miz as they battled in the finals of the tournament to crown a new WWE Champion. The strangest inclusion in this set features Mark Henry and the debut figure of Trent Barreta, of all people. This series is scheduled to be released later this year.

-- Collectors have been waiting anxiously for the 15th series of Battle Packs, but most online retailers have the figures on back order. Some lucky collectors have found them appearing on retail store shelves in the last two weeks. Each two-pack usually retails for $18.99 to $22.99, depending on the store. This series includes the first figures of the Bella Twins, who come packaged with the first toy Divas Championship belt, and Sin Cara, who is sold in a two-pack with Daniel Bryan. Also included in this series is a two-pack of John Cena and the Rock, just in time for WrestleMania.

The Bella Twins have been selling especially high on the secondary market. Most eBay auctions for a sealed two-pack of Nikki and Brie have been ending in the $50-60 range. The Bryan and Sin Cara two-pack is also a hot item, selling anywhere from $35 to $50 in the package. The Sin Cara figure sold loose by itself has also been selling well, usually in the $25-30 range. Cena and Rock haven’t been fetching much more than retail price, likely due to the abundance of Cena figures and a Rock figure that isn’t especially exciting.
