The expectation is the Tokyo Dome on PPV in the U.S. will be officially announced within the next week or so. The deal was not fully completed at press time, but everyone was working with the idea it’s happening.

Former WWE announcer Jim Ross wrote at-length about a rumor that he has talked with management types about broadcasting a U.S. version of New Japan's Tokyo Dome PPV on January 4.

"Read online today where 'sources say' that I'm broadcasting the New Japan PPV on January 4 from Tokyo. Let me make this perfectly clear. I have no deal," Ross wrote at jrsbarbq.com.

Ross specifically said he has not talked to Global Force Wrestling's Jeff Jarrett, who reportedly has a U.S. PPV deal for Jan. 4.

"So, here's the bottom line, if we do work out something and it's going to take a helluva deal for me to miss my birthday, a weekend in Vegas with my wife and the UFC on January 3 to see @RondaRousey fight to travel to Tokyo to do pro wrestling with a new partner, a new crew, and a new talent roster, Ross added.

It's unclear if Ross was responding to a specific report about his status with Global Force and/or New Japan, or a general telephone game version of a rumor about his status. The Wrestling Observer reported this week: "The expectation is the Tokyo Dome on PPV in the U.S. will be officially announced within the next week or so. The deal was not fully completed at press time, but everyone was working with the idea it’s happening. Still no announcers but Jim Ross and Mike Tenay are being talked with."

The report noted the odds of both Ross and Tenay coming on-board "still very slim," with financial terms for Ross and Tenay's TNA status being the major hurdles.

"I'm not looking to do any pro wrestling, but I'm also a businessman and if the offer is one that I can't realistically turn down then we will consider it," Ross wrote.

"And if we commit, I will be 'all in' and will travel to Tokyo to do play by play of a pro wrestling match like it was my last one... It will take a special arrangement for me to want to stick my toe back into that water again. Time will tell but I can swear to everyone that I have no deal as I type this on Thursday, October 23 and have ZERO meetings set up to discuss such."
