Former ROH booker Gabe Sapolsky has updated his Myspace blog with an entry about his favorite ROH match and his thoughts on some recent wrestling he's been watching. Before getting down to business, Sapolsky discusses ECW's influence on his booking and relates how it impacted his booking of ROH's inaugural PPV.

key excerpt: "In order to establish the foundation of three I felt that the PPV had to open with them and close with them. BJ Whitmer was selected to be the first face seen on ROH PPV because he earned that distinction for all his hard work and sacrifice. This might not have meant anything to the fans, but it was special for me and I believe that Whitmer realized the significance of it. I also knew he'd give Morishima the match that the World Champion needed to be immediately established as the big bully. If Morishima beat a small nobody in his first PPV match then what would it have meant? Instead, he took out the tough looking guy that had the balls to kick things off on PPV right in the middle of the ring. A first time viewer knew after the first ever PPV segment that Morishima was big and not afraid to fight, McGuinness was the valiant babyface and Danielson was the best in the world, but a bit of an asshole. Of course, all three of these skilled fighters from different sides of the world valued the belt so the ROH title had to be important. The foundation was set."
