Former ROH booker Gabe Sapolsky recently updated his blog with an in-depth entry about his plans for Faction Warfare, what went wrong, and an in-depth look at one of his booking sequences during the angle.

key excerpt: "Ok, back on track. You had Aries leading the young upstart group. Roderick Strong and his NOAH style junior heavyweight dick ass-kickers, which would elevate Richards and Rocky Romero. Jack Evans led the high-flyers. The Age Of The Fall would be the revolutionary cult with the idea of slowly bringing Tyler Black along as a future top guy. Then you added a stable of big, bruising bullies in The Hangmen Three. You still had ROH staples in The Briscoes coupled with the emergence of Kevin Steen & El Generico. Everyone brought something different to the table, yet they would all work well together. The match possibilities and scenarios were endless. In addition, I felt our tag team division would give us a competitive advantage over everyone else since we could feature the best tag action and would put more emphasis on it than any other promotion on PPV. So where did things fall flat?

"To me, the answer is easy. We lost two of the three pillars right when things were getting started. Jack Evans disappeared to Japan after assuring me he would be around. There was no payoff to Jack putting together his faction. ROH was always about paying off angles. When it finally happened months later with the debut of Ruckus and re-introduction of Julius Smokes, it was too late, even though I thought it was a hot angle at the August Manhattan Center show. Then Smokes didn't make it to Boston when it was time to introduce Jigsaw so that gave him a flat debut. Jack then vanished to Mexico. Jack was meant to be the Beyonce of Destiny's Child (what a reference!), now we were left with Destiny's Child with no Beyonce. Meanwhile, Aries signed with TNA and was pulled off our roster. We tried to keep the Resilience going without Aries, but the wind was taken out of its sails. However, all was not lost."
