TNA News: Nash no-shows conference call, Booker T replaces him and defends Michael Hayes Jun 3, 2008 - 12:47:50 PM
Kevin Nash no-showed TNA's media conference call today. He told TNA officials he misread the email and thought he was scheduled for Wednesday. He has been doing a ton of media appearances and interviews for TNA lately, so it appears to be just a mistake on his part. Booker T filled in.
Jason Powell at prowrestling.net has a very detailed rundown of what Booker said at the conference call. The following are key excerpts:
-"I don't look at Michael as a racist myself," he said. "I've heard him use the N-word before... He's one of the people who can use the word around me because I know there's no malice behind it."
-"Being the bad guy is just something that seems to fit my character at this stage of the gam. It's great."
-"He is the future. No matter how you look at it, he is the future... He has a lot to learn, though." Booker said he was in the same boat when he went to WWE. "I think Joe is the perfect candidate to carry TNA to the next level."
Booker T also said he would welcome Ultimate Warrior into his locker room and referred to him as a character.
KELLER'S ANALYSIS: I wonder if Booker would welcome Warrior into his locker room if he knew Warrior said the following about the victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, many of whom ended up as refugees in his hometown of Houston, Tex. and most of whom were black: "This hurricane to them was nothing more than like rearranging the furniture. If we could be shown what general conditions they lived in before the hurricane, we would see that had little respect for what they did have. We would see just how unorganized, unclean and dysfunctionally they lived. They never gave a care for order, cleanliness or function before, but now that they can get someone’s attention who will possibly take over the responsibility of their life for them, they go on these tirades about how their life has been ruined. Their lives were already in ruin -- self ruin. Ruined by the bad choices they made over and over."
