TNA Impact Ratings: Ratings pattern continues with predictable drops and increases for certain wrestlers and segments (w/Keller Analysis) Jun 9, 2008 - 11:49:46 AM
The June 5 edition of TNA Impact drew a 0.90 rating, another slight drop from the recent average. It opened with a 0.79 rating, well below the usual opening quarter hour rating. It hovered in the 0-.70-0.80 range for the rest of the first hour, with the low point coming predictably during the segment with two commercial breaks, Sting's sitdown interview talking about Ric Flair, and the Eric Young search for Elvis. The high point came, predictably, for the TNA Knockouts match between ODB and Velvet Sky.
The second hour improved to a 1.00 Q5 and 1.02 Q6 rating, but then collapsed once again when the soap opera segment between Karen and Kurt Angle aired. It rebounded from a 0.90 to a 0.92 for the final quarter for the A.J. Styles vs. Tomko main event.
KELLER'S ANALYSIS: The viewers couldn't be telling the stubborn TNA creative team any more clearly what they like and don't like about TNA, but the show continues to be booked almost in concious defiance of the message these ratings are sending. It's quite astounding at this point, actually. The drop in rating overall isn't that big of a deal since it did go up against game one of the marquee NBA Finals match-up between the Celtics and Lakers, but the ratings pattern is noteworthy as always within the show itself.
