TNA Impact Ratings: Final Impact before Victory Road draws strong final 30 minute rating for final PPV hype (w/Keller Analysis) Jul 14, 2008 - 2:10:55 PM
The July 10 edition of TNA Impact on Spike TV drew a 1.02 rating, down from the 0.95 rating the previous week. The show opened with a 1.02 rating for the Homicide vs. Robert Roode street fight, well above the previous week's Q1 rating of 0.92. Like the week before, and every week, the rating dropped thereafter. It rebounded for Q3 for the six-man tag match and then dropped a notch for the Awesome Kong vs. Taylor Wilde upset.
Hour two opened with a 1.08, the highest rating of the show, then experienced the biggest drop in Q6 for two commercial breaks, a PPV line-up plug, a video package on the Ultimate X, and some interviews. Then it jumped from the low point of 0.94 to a 1.07 and 1.07 for the closing half hour featuring the Booker T-Samoa Joe in-ring segment and the mixed tag team main event.
KELLER'S ANALYSIS: The surprise of the ratings breakdown is that Kong-Taylor drew a slightly lower rating than the previous quarter featuring a somewhat haphazard six-man tag match. Two commercials breaks during the Kong-Taylor quarter versus just one in the previous quarter probably explains it, though. Overall, more of the same with the usual 1.4 million viewers.
