TNA wrestler Mick Foley says that at one time in his TNA career, he thought about contributing to the company's creative effort, but now he doesn't want that responsibility, especially when he wouldn't know how to write for certain characters.

"I used to think about it years ago. I think I could be a contributor, but I wouldn't want to have the pressure of having people's careers in the palm of my hand. And I don’t think I'd be that good at it," Foley told Kevin Eck of the Baltimore Sun. "There were certain characters that I thought I could have good ideas for, and others that I just wouldn’t have a clue. I think it’s just too much time, pressure and energy – certainly more than I’m willing to commit at this stage in my life."

Foley said he still pitches ideas to TNA for his character and he hopes they use some of his "potential home run ideas" for future storylines. He also praised his work with Eric Bischoff the next two weeks on Impact.

"Yeah, I do throw ideas out there. I have put a couple out on the table that I think are home runs waiting to be hit. We'll just see if they are willing to let me get those at-bats in," Foley said. Regarding Bischoff, he said: "He’s one of my favorite antagonists, and I’ve had some pretty good ones throughout my career, and without spoiling anything for anyone, the next couple weeks are going to be a lot of fun as far as the Foley-Bischoff dynamic is concerned."

Foley also defended his feud with Abyss leading to Bound for Glory 2009 when he appeared to turn heel again, then went back to being a babyface after the match. Foley said any confusion leading to the match was a necessity trying to "build a match from scratch." He also defended a shades-of-gray approach to TNA's character presentation, which has historically caused confusion when most of the roster has fallen in the category of "shades of gray" and no one stands out as clearly likable and clearly unlikable.

"When Jeff [Jarrett] left, I was in a position of having to try to build a match for Bound for Glory from scratch," Foley said. "I did not want to do a second heel turn in a year – I mean, I fought it off for eight years in WWE – and so I understand where there could be some confusion, but in that case, I was doing what I thought was best for everybody. But I think people have to remember that sometimes the best characters are painted in shades of gray. Real-life people are very seldom black and white."
