TNA News TNA News: Impact Wrestling TV ratings for Thursday's show (2/2) - did a change of scenery help boost ratings?
Feb 3, 2012 - 6:28:35 PM
TNA's first international episode of Impact Wrestling on Thursday, February 2 scored a 1.15 rating, essentially flat with a 1.17 rating last week. The show was down from a 1.20 rating two weeks ago.
Impact averaged 1.61 million viewers, which was virtually even with an average of 1.60 million viewers last week and the 2012 average of 1.62 million viewers through the first five weeks.
On cable TV Thursday night, Impact ranked #28 on cable TV, #23 among males 18-34, #13 among males 18-49, and #40 among all adults 18-49, trailing cable TV competition from all genres.
Impact's demographic ratings were down across the board compared to last week, except among younger male viewers. The previously non-existent m12-17 demo increased two-tenths of a ratings point to the highest level since December.
In the key male demos of m18-34 & m18-49, Impact was down compared to last week's show and the previous week's show, but only by slight margins. However, the demo ratings remain 10-20 percent below the same week last year, which scored a 1.30 overall rating.
Caldwell's Analysis: On Thursday's PWTorch Livecast , Greg Parks and I discussed that there's usually a lag between TNA "stepping up its game" e.g. a hot crowd in London making Impact seem major leagues and the casual audience catching on, especially when TNA did not exactly make it seem like a big deal on last week's Impact. There's also the factor that TNA has an unchanging audience - the current product is not bad enough to drive people away, but it's not dynamic enough to attract casual/every-four-weeks/non-viewers to the product, either.
