9/10 WWE Raw Review: von Richter's "alt perspective" report on tonight's show Sep 11, 2007 - 12:23:55 AM
Apologies on missing the first segment, with a new semester starting at school I'm trying to adjust to a new schedule and the timing hasn't been worked out yet.
1. Paul London vs. Lance Cade
We start off with a series of offensive exchanges before Cade hits London with a back elbow for a two count. Following the pin attempt Cade maintains control by using his power and getting a few more two counts. London regains the momentum with a boot to the face out of the corner and a springboard dropkick for two. After regaining control Cade sets London on the top for a superplex but gets knocked down. When the referee is distracted Murdoch goes to knock London off the top rope but is caught by the ref and then Kendrick sneaks into the ring hitting Sliced Bread # 2 on Cade followed by London hitting a standing Shooting Star Press for the win.
WINNER: Paul London via pinfall. Decent match for the time given, with a good non-formulaic finish.
Backstage Triple H is holding a sign, which he places next to his new t-shirt, advertised as available on WWEShop.com as stated on his sign.

JR and King talk about the 10th anniversary of Unforgiven before introducing a video package on the Orton-Cena feud.
Coach and Vince are backstage and talking about how Coach banned Cena from the building, mostly for his own safety. Vince says that there's no way this woman will make a fool of him tonight. Coach says he has the number 2 vote getter on WWE.com for who Vince's son is. Stevie Richards walks in and Vince laughs hysterically and says that's ridiculous. He asks who was number 1 in the poll. Coach hesitates and says that it was Triple H.
JR and King show footage of Triple H taking out Umaga last week.
Grisham is backstage with his guest Carlito. Grisham asks if Carlito is nervous to face Triple H. Carlito says he's not nervous since he's full of surprises. He thanks Coach for letting him pick H's opponent for the night. Carlito says following the match he'll show that he's Triple H's daddy.

2. Triple H vs. Shelton Benjamin
H dominates the match early including tossing Shelton shoulder-first into the post twice. After the second toss into the post the match goes outside and H throws Shelton into Carlito who's sitting beside the announce table. Triple H slides into the ring as we go to break.
[Commercials]
We're back and Shelton is in control with a chinlock. He hits a DDT for a two count and follows up with another chinlock. After fighting out of a Pedigree attempt Shelton hits a forearm off the top rope. After fighting out of another chinlock Triple H hits a clothesline to leave both men lying. Carlito tries to hit Triple H, but H chases him off and hits a Pedigree for the win.
WINNER: Triple H via pinfall. Okay match, served as a good way to advance the storyline but the match could have been better if it had been a little more even at the beginning.
After the match Carlito escapes a pedigree attempt and runs up the ramp. Coach walks out and informs H that his match at Unforgiven is now no-DQ. For Carlito only. Carlito, of course, thinks that's cool.
We see the security guards in the parking lot check an SUV to make sure John Cena isn't inside.

Randy Orton makes his way to the ring and has a microphone in his hand. He says that Cena's probably at home watching Raw, right now. Maybe even with his father, whose head is probably throbbing. Orton tells him to turn up the volume and listen to what he has to say. Orton says that Cena became the champion by beating some of the biggest and badest wrestlers the industry has ever seen, but then it wasn't personal. Orton says that he got into Cena's head and will capitalize on the mistake Cena will make and become WWE Champion. Cena breaks through the crowd and hits the ring while security tries to keep him off of Orton, who eventually makes his way up the ramp. Cena tries to break through the wall of security but is unable to.
Vince and Coach are walking backstage and Vince tells Coach to do his job. He criticizes Coach for not keeping Cena out of here. We see security still trying to hold Cena back when Vince confronts him. Cena says he's talking to Vince as a man and not his boss, as a man who cares about his father. He says that Vince now knows what he'll do to Randy Orton and says that Orton will see rage in his eyes, and that is something that even Vince can understand. Security ushers him out of the arena as we go to break.

Candice Michelle is heading to the ring and joins JR and the King at the announce table.
3. Mickie James vs. Jillian Hall
After some back and forth action Jillian Hall tries for her handstand elbow drop but is met with knees to the stomach. After a two count Mickie and Jillian exchange forearms before Mickie hits her head scissors out of the corner. Mickie gets the win with a roundhouse kick.
WINNER: Mickie James via pinfall. Not the best match, but with only two or three minutes to work with there's not much they could do. It's a shame that Mickie James is reduced to having only a few minutes of air time each week since her talent and popularity deserve a bigger push, although it is nice to see new faces in the women's division.
After the match Beth Phoenix clears the ring before Candice enters and tries to fight off the challenger. Phoenix stops her attack and hits her vertical fisherman's suplex to leave the champion lying.

WWE Rewind shows Santino Marella's confrontation with the Sandman from last week.
Santino is having microphone trouble in the ring. Once he gets it to work he says that it is a sad time in Italy since Pavarotti died, but at least he died before watching Stone Cold in The Condemned on DVD. He says that he doesn't understand, Italians like culture, but Americans settle for putting cheese on their fries and watching action movies. At that point the Sandman makes his way through the crowd as Santino calls him a son of a gun.
4. Santino Marella vs. The Sandman
Santino jumps Sandman at the bell and beats him down into the corner. After Santino whips him into the corner Sandman hits awkwardly and appears to either pull a hamstring or hurt his ankle. After Santino falls to the outside Sandman hits a plancha on top of Santino. As the referee counts Santino grabs the Singapore Cane and whacks Sandman across the back to get DQ'ed. He misses a couple of swings in the ring and tries to break the cane over his knee but can't do it and hurts himself instead. Sandman takes a big swing that Santino avoids and backs up the ramp.

Maria is backstage with Ron Simmons and wants t know if she should tell Santino that they should see other people. Santino sees the two of them together and attacks Simmons throwing him into some beer kegs. Santino says damn! And walks off with Maria.
We get a Diva Search video introducing this year's contestants. WWE.com is our exclusive home for the Diva Search so that's good, we won't have to watch it if we don't want to.
JR and King run down the Unforgiven lineup.
Khali makes his way to the ring and we go to break.
[Commercials]
JR and King recap Khali's attack on Rey Mysterio from Friday's SmackDown.
5. The Great Khali vs. Jeff Hardy
Khali constantly overpowers Hardy to start the match. Hardy eventually tries for the Whisper in the Wind by Khali just steps out of the way. After a leg lariat Khali locks in the vice grip for a few minutes before throwing to the mat and pinning him.
WINNER: Khali via pinfall. Jeff tried, but so far only HBK, John Cena, and the Undertaker have been able to pull a watchable match out of Khali.
As the referees check out Hardy, Batista walks to the ring and spears Khali and the World Champion rolls out of the ring.
Vince and Coach are walking backstage, and the big reveal is next!
[Commercials]
Vince walks to the ring and is followed by pretty much every man on the WWE roster, with Triple H being the last to enter.
Vince says that one of these men is privileged to be his son. He says that he's been waiting long enough to find out so which one of these men is his son. The attorney appears on the Titantron and has a few messages for who his son is not. Vince's son is not extreme. Vince orders all ECW Superstars to leave ringside. Vince says he's happy his son is not extreme.
His son has a fondness for gold. Vince orders all former or current champions to stay, and everyone else to leave. Vince's son's skin is fair. Vince determines that his son is Caucasian so if you're not Caucasian leave. Vince says to blame it on that woman, not him. Vince says Coach can stay though. Vince orders everyone into the ring with him. His son's skin is fair as is his hair. Vince orders all blond-haired superstars to stay.
As the crowd chants for Kennedy Vince says he's been suspended for impersonating a McMahon. The lawyer says that the son has individual gold so Cade & Murdoch must leave, with Triple H, JBL and the Sandman left in the ring. The final clue is that the son loves to play the game. Triple H looks despondent as everyone else leaves the ring. Vince says that if Trips is his son, than he's … Triple H says he doesn't like this anymore than Vince does.
The lawyer says that his son likes to play the game, be it hide and seek, horseshoes, or marbles as seen on SmackDown. The lawyer says his son is Hornswoggle. As Trips laughs hysterically JR exclaims "that Little Bastard!" A Hornswoggle celebrates Vince just stares menacingly at him. Hornswoggle hugs Vince's leg as Trips places Hornswoggle's hat on McMahon as we fade to black.
Quick Raw Thoughts
Match of the Night: Paul London vs. Lance Cade – despite being very short they had a good match for the time given. I especially liked the finish as it hasn't been seen too often.
Promo of the Night: Cena's promo to Vince – not so much for the words he used, but for the intensity on his face and his whole demeanor, Cena put together an intense promo that was probably his best in a while.
Segment of the Night: The reveal of Vince's son – Even though the outcome was pretty obvious when Hornswoggle wasn't in the ring with everyone this was still a good segment. I thought they could have done a better job of eliminating people (why get rid of ECW at the start? At least pretend that someone from the brand could be Vince's son) but it was still a well done segment.
What we need to see more of: Quality storylines – I may be in the minority but I've really enjoyed the Vince's Son storyline (even if the payoff could have been a little better) as well as the Cena-Orton and Triple H-Carlito storylines. While not the greatest stories the world has ever seen they're solid, entertaining stories, which is better than what we've been getting lately.
What we don't need to see again: Khali wrestling – His matches are horrible, some of the worst ever. I know that's not exactly new information but it's true.
