ECW TV Report
September 25, 2007
Live from Indianapolis, IN
Aired on The Sci Fi Channel
Jason Combs, PWTorch.com Contributor

ECW is live from the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. Tonight we will see the second chapter in the "Elimination Chase" to No Mercy, and a shot at ECW World Champion C.M. Punk. A triple threat match awaits us, pitting Elijah Burke vs. Tommy Dreamer vs. Kevin Thorn. In addition to that, the main event for this evening will be a non-title match between C.M. Punk and Matt Striker.

(1) Elijah Burke eliminates Kevin Thorn from the "Elimination Chase" to No Mercy via pinfall. Tony Chimel is handling the ring announcing duties for ECW tonight. Burke is the first participant to enter. They recap last week's match, and the elimination of Stevie Richards. Tommy Dreamer is the second entrant, and Joey and Tazz again mention he is the only man in the match who has been ECW Champion. Kevin Thorn is the final combatant introduced. The match begins with Dreamer going after Burke. Thorn hits Dreamer with a reverse elbow, and then delivers a shoulder tackle to Burke. Two winners, and one loser tonight in this match. Burke with a standing hip toss. Dreamer, smartly, is staying on the floor while Burke and Thorn beat on each other. The heels figure it out, and Thorn goes to the floor after Dreamer. All three end up back in the ring together. Burke with a schoolboy on Thorn for a two-count. Burke with a back flip over the top rope to avoid a running shoulder from Thorn. Dreamer is thrown shoulder first into the post by Thorn, who proceeds to pound on him. Burke with an impressive dropkick to the side of Thorn's head. Burke, Dreamer, and Thorn trade schoolboy/sunset flips/inside cradles. Burke and Dreamer try to pin Thorn by each hooking down one of his arms. Commercial. Back, and Burke goes flying over the top rope after a missed cross body attempt on Dreamer. Thorn and Burke are slugging it out in the ring. Dreamer with a running bulldog, but only a two-count. Dreamer dropped on the back of his head by Thorn as a reversal to mounted punches in the corner. Reverse chinlock by Dreamer, but Dreamer reverses that into an inverted DDT. Thorn rolls to the floor, but gets hit by a baseball slide by Tommy. Burke press slams Dreamer from the apron to the floor. Mordacai, I mean Kevin Thorn with a running tackle on Burke. Thorn with mounted punches on Burke in the ring. Thorn hits an inverted sit-out backbreaker on Elijah. Dreamer is struggling to return to the action inside the ring. Thorn toying with Burke, but Burke catches a golden gloves uppercut and an STO. Dreamer ties Burke to the tree of woe, and then delivers a very slow baseball slide dropkick. Thorn with an inverted jaw dropper on Dreamer, but cannot get the pin. Burke with another punch to the face of Thorn. Burke ascends the top turnbuckle, but is caught by Dreamer. An attempted superbomb, similar to last week, but it gets broken up. Burke with a top-rope sunset flip on Dreamer, but he reverses it and locks in a Texas cloverleaf. Thorn breaks it up with a big boot to the head. Dreamer recovers and hits Kevin with a DDT, but Burke tosses Dreamer to the floor and makes the cover on Thorn to eliminate him.

C.M. Punk is shown walking backstage, talking to various people. He runs into Matt Striker and Big Daddy V. Striker says that Punk is truant, and Punk responds by saying he liked school and never missed a day. He even says he has taught his teachers a thing or two in his day. Striker introduces Punk to Big Daddy V, who snarls. Punk says he will see Striker in school.

No Mercy promo clip airs. A Last Man Standing AND Punjabi Prison match on the same show? Oh joy!

Raw Rebound airs. Has anyone ever noticed that Raw never airs any Smackdown or ECW rebound clips during its broadcast. Another sign who the pecking order in the WWE.

(2) Mike Knox defeats Nunzio via pinfall. Good God it's Nunzio! His opponent, Mike Knox. This is a fresh match up that we haven't seen recently, which is difficult to do with such a thin roster. Nunzio goes for a side headlock, but Knox shoots the half and takes him down with a shoulder tackle. Nunzio with a go behind, but Knox uses his size to throw Nunzio to the floor. They are putting over that Knox has the size and power advantage. Knox with an extended backbreaker, but Nunzio will not quit. Nunzio throws knees to the face of knox to escape. Knox hits a high impact side backbreaker, which only gets a two. Knoz drops big elbows and fists down to Nunzio. Nunzio keeps trying to fight back. Knox misses a running splash in the corner. Nunzio starts kickin Knox, and hits a low dropkick to the knee. Nunzio ends up getting caught by a bicycle kick, and Knox picks up the win.

Apparently Extreme Expose's music plays while they walk backstage. They, along with The Miz, are coming to the ring.

Vote for Lena for the Diva Search, not because she is necessarily the hottest, but because she is the one who is the most distinguishable from the rest of the pack.

Wow, the save_us.222 promo airs, and it's pretty obvious that it's for Chris Jericho. Of course, it's a big reveal angle, so it will probably end up being a huge let down.

(3) The Miz defeats Silas Young via pinfall. The Miz is introduced first, along with Extreme Expose. They show the clip from last week of Balls asking out Kelly Kelly. Miz is wrestling Silas Young. Miz just kicks and punches him, until finally hitting a side Russian leg sweep, and clothesline in the corner. Miz finishes him off with the "Reality Check". This brings out Balls, who wants to talk to Kelly Kelly. Balls asks Kelly again to go out with him, and she takes the mic. Before she can answer, Miz intercepts and attacks Balls. Kelly is concerned, but the rest of the Expose pull her off.

Raw preview airs hyping Mcmahon vs. Triple H.

Austin signed copies of "The Condemned" and how people waited in line to get his autograph and buy the DVD.

Recap of the triple threat match from earlier, and a graphic airs for Burke vs. Dreamer next week.

Elijah Burke is congratulating Dreamer on making it to the finals. He said this is an epic match, ten years ago. He's younger, stronger, and faster than Dreamer. Dreamer has heart, and passion, which he says Burke lacks.

(4) C.M. Punk defeats Matt Striker (w/Big Daddy V) via pinfall. The school bell rings, and Matt Striker and Big Daddy V are on their way to the ring. Commercial. We are back and the ECW World Champion C.M. Punk is introduced. Punk is actually wearing his championship belt around his waist. That shows the title means something still. Punk and Striker lock up, and Punk controls with a side headlock. Another reversal of a headlock into a shoulder tackle this evening. Punk with a scoop slam, followed by a leg drop. Striker with a hard set of right hands. Striker charges Punk in the corner, but is back dropped to the floor. Punk follows that up with a slingshot crossy body on Striker on the floor. Punk is distracted by V, and Striker sends him to the steel steps. Striker begins to go to work on the left hand of Punk. This is interesting psychology, and Joey sold that Punk was down to only having one usable hand. Striker wraps Punk's fingers around the ropes. Punk fights back with chops, but Striker goes back to work on the hand. A running knee nets Striker a two-count. Striker slams Punks hand down to the canvas. Striker pulls the fingers of Punk apart which causes his hand to resemble the Big Daddy V sign, then perclaims "he's a Big Daddy V fan!" That was hilarious! Punk kicks Striker, and uses the hand that still works. Jumping leg lariat, followed by a double underhook backbreaker. High knee to the face in the corner, followed by a running bulldog. Springboard clothesline on Striker, and then Punk hits the GTS for the win. After the bell, Big Daddy V hits the ring and delivers a Samoan drop to C.M. Punk.

This was an okay show. The three-way was not nearly as good as the four-way had been. Standard television matches for Knox and Miz this week. Matt Striker's "Big Daddy V fan" line was priceless. Striker should be on the creative team, because that was way funnier than any of the stupid cock, homosexuel, and erectile disfunction jokes that we are constantly being subjected to on Raw and Smackdown.
