PARKS' WWE SMACKDOWN REPORT 9/26: Ongoing "virtual time" coverage of the final CW broadcast Sep 26, 2008 - 7:32:57 PM
WWE Smackdown review
September 26, 2008
Taped 9/21/08 in Nashville, Tenn.
Aired on the CW
Report by Greg Parks, Torch Team Contributor
-WWE Open.
-Highlights aired of Vladimir Kozlov finding a challenge for himself last Friday (and the Friday before) by beating up Jeff Hardy. And, of course, going toe-to-toe with Triple H.
-Smackdown Open.....and it was interrupted by the Yankees-Red Sox in a rain delay. They came back with Vickie and Chavo backstage.
-Chavo talked about what it was like to have Taker’s hands around his neck last week. Chavo said Taker let go because he wanted Chavo to be a messenger to tell Vickie that Taker is coming for Vickie tonight. Jeff Hardy walked in and asked for a match with Kozlov. Vickie told him to concentrate on his match at No Mercy and his tag match tonight. Then she ordered him out of her office. He walked by Big Show, who was also in Vickie’s office.
1- TRIPLE H & JEFF HARDY vs. MVP & THE BRIAN KENDRICK
Quick tags early on between Trips and Hardy on MVP. Kendrick came in and he bailed when Hardy tried a corner dropkick. Back inside, Triple H & Hardy double-teamed both heels and sent them to the outside. The show then went to break.
[Commercial Break]
MVP was taking it to HHH when the show came back from break. Trips, though, made his comeback against Kendrick before Brian put a stop to it and worked Triple H’s arm. Kendrick missed a cross-body and both men were down. Hardy tagged in and was a house of fire, no pun intended. Ezekiel tripped up Hardy though, and Jeff fell off the top rope and to the mat. MVP came in and gave Hardy a knee to the sternum for two. Kendrick came in and got a few impressive moves in on Hardy but couldn’t register a pin. Hardy tried desperately to make the tag, but MVP cheap-shotted HHH, drawing his ire. Hardy was able to hit Whisper in the Wind, and it seemed to engulf Kendrick as he sold it. Both men made tags, but HHH took it to MVP. Spinebuster for MVP and Kendrick. Kendrick kicked HHH in the face on a Pedigree attempt of MVP, but Hardy clotheslined Kendrick to the floor. Drive-By missed, and HHH nailed MVP with the Pedigree for the win.
WINNERS: HHH & Hardy, at 14:01. Looks like MVP is still in the doghouse. Good match though.
Hardy took the title from ringside, handed it to HHH, then raised his hand. The two celebrated their win in the ring.
-A video packaged aired on The Great Khali.
-Khali faces Kozlov tonight.
[Commercial Break]
Well, they cut in to the Yankees/Red Sox broadcast, so the rain delay has ended. This really pisses me off, as the game wasn't even scheduled to be on this channel....in fact, MyNetwork9 is actually "airing" the game, they must be just showing it on this CW. I for one am glad that this is the last episode on the CW, for this sole reason. Anyway, I'll keep an eye out for this CW affiliate airing the rest of the show, either after the game or tomorrow night. Sorry folks.
