A fine show. Well, except for Ricky Ortiz being placed on the same level as Jack Swagger. I don't recall the last time I thought in my mind there would be a huge injustice if a certain wrestler were booked to win a match, but Ricky O. over Jack Swagger would have been an injustice the likes of Oklahoma jumping Texas in the BCS standings. Potentially more egregious. Swagger is a star on the rise and Ricky O. is just not developing from what I can see. Ricky seems very tentative in the ring, as if he's trying to tell himself not to hurt the opponent. Swagger just has "it" right now and it was good to see him pick up the win over Ortiz in the opener.

Hardy vs. MVP was a decent main event. Nothing wrong with it. There were flashes of excitement throughout and Hardy led a nice progression through the paces as the veteran wrestling the WWE main event heavyweight style. MVP had a good showing despite the loss, while Todd Grisham and Matt Striker provided excellent commentary equating the match-up to a sporting event. They are the top announce duo in wrestling right now, I believe.

This was a good episode of ECW. It got off to a good start with Jack Swagger. He is looking more and more like a star each week. Last week it was in his extreme rules match against Tommy Dreamer. This week it was in his opening promo. Despite his lisp, he sounds good and confident on the mic. He is showing a lot of potential right now. His match with Ricky Ortiz wasn’t very good, but that is due to Ortiz not being very impressive in the ring.

I enjoyed the back and forth between Finlay and Mark Henry. It is good to see Henry talking for himself again as he can deliver a promo very well. Finlay was good as well. This was a nice follow up to the lame non-finish to their main event match last week.

I also enjoyed this week’s main event, Matt Hardy vs. MVP. It was a good match. It reminded me of their great storyline from last year. They know each other very well and worked well together to pull of a good match. I still don’t like this angle for MVP, but I would much rather see him lose this type of competitive match than to Funaki on Smackdown.

The major drawback was the repeat DX video for the shopzone. With only one hour, ECW doesn’t need to show videos that the vast majority of its viewing audience watched the night before on Raw. The video itself was OK, but with only an hour, why not spend the entire time promoting the ECW roster and brand?

I'm in the minority, I actually thought Ricky Ortiz vs. Jack Swagger was an impressive match, especially considering how young they are. I'm certainly not on the Ortiz bandwagon (as much as I'd like to, him being a former XFL player and all), and I'm not exactly digging the Tiffany-Ortiz storyline; neither have the charisma to pull it off.

I'm glad we're not getting another Finlay vs. Mark Henry match, but I don't think adding Hornswoggle and Tony Atlas will make it much better. At least I'll get to see Atlas back in the ring. Not only has Henry come a long way in the ring, his promos are good now too. Oh, and of course, his awesome theme music.

DJ Gabriel continued to be relatively impressive. They need to give Alicia Fox back the glasses she wore as wedding planner on Smackdown though. I've seen quite a few Matt Hardy vs. MVP matches thanks to their Smackdown feud, but they rarely disappoint in the ring. This was no exception.
