ECW on Sci-Fi review
March 3, 2009
Taped 3/2/09 in Boston, Mass.
Aired on Sci-Fi Network

-The show opened with highlights of the excellent ECW Title match from last week between Jack Swagger and Christian.

-ECW Open.

-Todd Grisham opened the show plugging a six-man main-event featuring Christian, Tommy Dreamer and Finlay taking on Miz & Morrison and Jack Swagger.

1- KANE vs. THE BOOGEYMAN

Matt Striker, in plugging "See No Evil" and its world television premiere, called it one of his favorite movies of all-time. Insert your own joke here. Even Kane looked puzzled by Boogeyman. Boogey offered Kane some worms and Kane responded by uppercutting Boogeyman. Low dropkick by Kane got a two-count. Boogeyman dodged a Kane top-rope clothesline and splashed him in the corner. Big boot by Kane and then he kicked Boogey outside the ring. Boogeyman went to the top but came right down into a chokeslam for three.

WINNER: Kane, at 2:13. A virtual squash as it should've been, as Kane didn't need to look weak heading into the MITB match.

-A Money in the Bank Qualifying Match is tonight, as Santino Marella takes on Mark Henry. Wow. Just....wow.

[Commercial Break]

-The six-man match was plugged once again.

2- MARK HENRY vs. SANTINO MARELLA- MONEY-IN-THE-BANK QUALIFYING MATCH

Well, as JR would say, this isn't going to be Flair vs. Steamboat. In storyline terms, what has Santino really done to deserve even a chance to get into the match? Rosa and Beth Phoenix accompanied Santino to the ring. Santino got on the mic and said Henry's physique isn't one women would love. He said that he has the body women go wild for and could've been Mr. Italy. Marella said he could've been a lifeguard and saved people but no one will save Henry. Not his best work thanks to the material.

Marella ran right into Henry and had to roll out of the ring. Beth trash-talked Henry as Marella snuck back into the ring. His offense had no effect on Henry, even a cross-body attempt. On a second attempt, Henry caught him and hit the World's Strongest Slam for the win.

WINNER: Henry, at 1:06. Interesting choice with Henry here. I'm not complaining.

[Commercial Break]

-An Evan Bourne video aired hyping his return.

-A WWE.com exclusive, "The Dirty Awards," aired. I guess it's an episode from "The Dirt Sheet." Evan Bourne won "Biggest Virgin" over Festus and DJ Gabriel. "Best Musical Performance" was one by Morrison and The Miz. Wouldn't you NOT want to win these awards? Oh, and Miz & Morrison also won Best Internet video (second year in a row!). Well that was pointless. At least it was short.

-What amounted to a Raw Rebound aired.

-Alicia Fox came out for a divas match, which is next.

[Commercial Break]

3- ALICIA FOX vs. NATALYA

Matt Striker noted that Beulah McGillicutty was the only other woman to survive the Hart Dungeon besides Natalya. Side headlock take-over by Fox. Dropkick followed that up and Natalya went to the ropes. She came out swinging, using her power on Fox, including slamming her down and pounding her head into the mat. Abdominal stretch by Natalya. Fox got out of it, but was slapped for her efforts. Sunset flip in the corner by Alicia for one, then a clothesline. Another roll up for two following a missed kicked by Neidhart. Natalya caught a dropkick attempt and locked in the Sharpshooter. Game over.

WINNER: Natalya, at 3:03. It was serviceable. Fox is green but shows promise.

Tyson Kidd tried to attack DJ Gabriel after the match as both were at ringside, but Gabriel cleaned house of Kidd, delivering a European uppercut to Kidd that sent the youngster outside the ring.

-The "12 Rounds" trailer aired.

-The six-man tag main-event is next.

[Commercial Break]

-The Bill Watts H.O.F induction video aired.

4- JACK SWAGGER & JOHN MORRISON & THE MIZ vs. CHRISTIAN & TOMMY DREAMER & FINLAY

Swagger started out but tagged Miz in before he could make contact with Dreamer. Neck-breaker by Dreamer. Finlay came in and brawled his way through Miz. Finlay caught Miz's baseball slide with the ring apron. Morrison came to help out and Hornswoggle dove on to the duo while the ref's back was turned.

[Commercial Break]

It was still Finlay and Miz as the legal men back from break, but Christian tagged in soon after. Spinning heel kick from Christian for two. He and Dreamer did some double-teaming on Miz. Dreamer even got the best of Morrison for a while, but it didn't last long. Swagger finally made it into the match, tagging in and bringing the heat to Dreamer. Each heel had a chance to beat up on Dreamer in the ring. Dreamer came close to tagging out, but Morrison caught him. A second later, he did make the hot tag to Christian, who took it to Morrison. Morrison pushed Christian into Finlay and Christian was able to avoid a charge by Miz. After a flurry of offense, Christian hit a Tornado DDT on Morrison, then took out Swagger. Diving headbutt for two, as it was broken up by Miz. Finlay got rid of him, but Swagger made a blind tag. Killswitch hit on Morrison, but Swagger came in with the Blue Thunder Bomb for three.

WINNERS: Miz, Morrison & Swagger, at 12:25. Eh....Christian pinned again, but at least it was off a blind tag. Still, I would think they'd do that if they were continuing a Swagger vs. Christian feud, but I'm not so sure about that.
