Florida Championship Wrestling TV Report
July 12, 2009
Aired on the Bright House Sports Network
Report by Cody Endres, PWTorch contributor

-Following the opening montage, Announcers Byron Saxton & Dusty Rhodes send us right to the ring.

1 – THE HART DYNASTY (DAVID HART SMITH & TYSON KIDD w/Natalya) vs. RICKY ORTIZ & D.J. GABRIEL

Haven't seen Gabriel in a while. Gabriel's former dancing partner Alicia Fox is the ring announcer for this week. Gabriel overpowers Kidd early on and lands a standing dropkick. The Hart Dynasty has a meeting at ringside. Kidd distracts Ortiz allowing Smith to throw Ortiz shoulder first into the ring post. The Hart Dynasty take turns working over Ortiz's shoulder. Eventually Ortiz manages to back body drop Kidd and make the tag to Gabriel. Gabriel with a running European uppercut on Kidd for a nearfall. Gabriel hits his Vindication maneuver for another nearfall. Smith makes the blind tag and catches Gabriel with a superkick. Gabriel gets Smith with a neckbreaker, but Kidd breaks up the pin attempt. While the referee deals with a complaining Ortiz, The Hart Dynasty hits the Hart Attack for the win.

WINNERS: The Hart Dynasty in 6:34. Decent match. I like watching The Hart Dynasty, but it's sad not being able to see any more Tyson Kidd singles matches. On the flip side, we don't have to witness anymore David Hart Smith singles matches.

-Byron Saxton read a message from the office of FCW President Steve Keirn. The letter said that any stipulations in matches booked by General Manager Abraham Washington must also be approved by Keirn. Dusty said it was signed by one of the top attorneys in the country – Dawson Alexander.

2 – DYLAN KLEIN vs. BRETT DIBIASE

In a pre-taped promo that aired during his entrance Klein said he was going to prove that DiBiase wasn't priceless, he's worthless. In his pre-taped promo, DiBiase told Klein it was going to be put up or shut up time. The announcers explained that these two have been feuding at live events recently. Match starts with a collar-and-elbow battle. DiBiase attempts a headscissors takeover, but Klein tosses him over the top rope to the floor. Klein whips DiBiase into the corner and follows up with a neckbreaker. Klein leaps off the second rope, but DiBiase gets a foot in his face. DiBiase with a back body drop and a dropkick. DiBiase leaps off the top and takes out Klein at ringside. Both men roll into the ring at the count of nine. Klein catches DiBiase in a roll up and puts his foot on the rope for leverage to gain the cheap win.

WINNER: Dylan Klein in 5:23. Very basic action. They are slowly building DiBiase, which is good.

[Commercial Break]

3 – TROY JACKMAN (w/Fletcher Chase) vs. BO ROTUNDO

Troy Jackman is the Minister of Defense in Washington's Cabinet. Rotundo unsuccessfully tries to pin Jackman with a series of roll ups and pinning combinations. Rotundo leaps at Jackman with a crossbody, but Jackman just shoves him out of the way. Rotundo goes for a monkeyflip, but Chase holds his man from the outside to block the maneuver. Jackman hits a spinebuster for the win.

WINNER: Troy Jackman in 4:18. Dull match.

-Another video hyping Eric Escobar's return aired. The voiceover guy said that the American Dental Association was changing their whitening scale to read Semi-White, Super-White, and the ultimate-Escobar. Where's Isaac Yankem when you need him?

[Commercial Break]

4 – CAYLEN CROFT (w/Trent Beretta) vs. JOHNNY CURTIS

Dusty asked if Croft & Beretta were ever going to defend the FCW Tag Titles. This is Curtis' second TV match since returning from injury. Curtis' timing is a bit off and he's still showing ring rust. Curtis dominates early and tosses Croft onto Beretta at ringside. Curtis dives out and takes out both men. Beretta attacks Curtis' leg as he climbs back in the ring. Croft works over the injured leg for an extended period. Curtis rallies and executes a falcon arrow suplex for the win.

WINNER: Johnny Curtis in 5:47. Curtis finally gets revenge after losing his tag titles to Croft & Curtis in a match he wasn't even involved in.

-After the match, General Manager Abraham Washington and Fletcher Chase came out. Washington said he was just informed about Keirn and Alexander's letter. Washington said the ratings were up since he took power so he can do and say anything he wants. He told Keirn to mind his own business and told Alexander he should be on the reality show "How to Marry a Millionaire." Washington said he's counted 14 minutes and Alexander only has one minute left of his 15 minutes of fame.

[Commercial Break]

5 – ALEX RILEY (w/Beverly) & LANCE HOYT & DREW MCINTYRE vs. ERIC ESCOBAR & HEATH SLATER & JUSTIN ANGEL – Six-Man Tag Team Elimination Match

McIntyre is acting disturbed now that he lost the FCW Title to Tyler Reks a couple weeks ago. McIntyre slaps Angel in frustration. Angel scores with a headscissors takeover. Within the first couple minutes, everyone has tagged in and was given a few seconds of offense. Slater tosses Riley and Hoyt to the floor. Slater takes them both out with a somersault dive from the top.

[Commercial Break]

Back in the ring, Slater hits Hoyt with an elbow drop off the second rope. Slater hit the ropes and Beverly grabbed his foot. Hoyt follows up with a chokeslam position overhead suplex to pin and eliminate Slater. Escobar enters the ring and soon connects with a lifting sit out powerbomb to eliminate Hoyt. McIntyre nails Escobar with a stiff clothesline for a nearfall. McIntyre & Riley give Escobar a double suplex. Escobar rallies, but McIntyre rolls him up and holds the tights for the pin. Escobar is eliminated leaving Angel to take on both McIntyre & Riley. With Escobar distracting McIntyre, Angel comes up from behind and rolls up McIntyre for a quick pin. We're down to Riley vs. Angel. Riley tries to wear down Angel with a headlock. Angel battles out and hits a spin kick, a dropkick, and an STO in succession. Angel climbs up for the 450 splash, but Riley crotches him on the turnbuckle. Riley runs up the ropes and brings Angel to the mat with a suplex off the top rope for the win. Dusty said this puts Riley in line for a shot at the FCW Title.

WINNER and Sole Survivor: Alex Riley in 7:37 of what aired. Good main event. It's too bad they couldn't build this match up or advertise it in the weeks prior. Riley worked a dark match before Raw this week in Raleigh. Don't be surprised if Riley and Beverly are called up soon, especially after they worked a dark match at this week's WWE TV taping.
