Good showing from the ECW brand this week, but where's the PPV match? I think another round of Christian vs. 5 o'clock shadow Zack Ryder would have been a nice bonus match for the Hell in a Cell PPV. Alas, it wasn't meant to be. At least it will save Josh Mathews and Matt Striker a long three hours ringside without the "eight seconds-to-eight minutes" standard length ECW match to call.
The eight-man tag match was good for serving the purpose of getting as much talent in one ring at the same time. The crowd wasn't particularly into the action since they were waiting around for the finish, but the overall message WWE sent was that Yoshi Tatsu is someone we believe in and we're behind. Quite the important victory for Yoshi, who is developing a persona to go with his Sean Waltman-esque offense in the ring.
Abe's show has got to go. It's just not good TV. Tony Atlas wouldn't have a WWE TV role if he played a serious character, but the dim-witted co-host role isn't helping Abe. It was good to get some bonus star power on the show in the form of Dolph and J-Morrison, but the segment was a trainwreck.
Shelton Benjamin appears destined for a babyface push. Then again, when we thought that before, he came out on TV as a heel, then face, then heel, then face, etc. Shelton winning over Paul Burchill with the "fighting spirit, grit, determination, and all that" helped boost his profile after Sheamus's attack. Sheamus and Shelton have a nice little program going that could deserve a PPV spot down the line. Or, just an ECW TV main event similar to the blow-off match between Sheamus and Goldust.

Overall, a good show this week. The Abraham Washington Show was actually fairly tolerable, and this is due to the fact that Morrison and Ziggler are both so charismatic just as presences and on the mic. As long as they both stay on Smackdown for at least another six months, great things lie ahead for both. The angle of Regal taking over the show was good as it put him right back in the title picture after Zach Ryder got a shot. They also planted seeds for him to go against Regal, though I hope there's no follow-through just yet; Ryder is really hitting a great stride in his heel character right now.
Christian's face character is a little bit obnoxious, but he was good at the rah-rahing team leader going into the main event. I'm not usually a fan of eight-man tags, but this one was okay. The only question, and I'll echo James Caldwell's report here: Where is the ECW title match Sunday? Also of brief note: Paul Burchill is the best enhancement talent going right now, as he's had great ten-minute-plus matches with quite a few guys on this show. I hate to call him enhancement because of this, but that's where the booking has put him of late.

The Abraham Washington show was better this week, thanks to it being kept short. I like Tony Atlas' role; he's so bad he's good. They must've had to push the I.C. Title hype onto ECW this week because, I'm guessing, a lot of time on Smackdown this week was devoted to the 10th anniversary of the show. William Regal as guest GM didn't have a lot of punch behind it. It was just kinda there. I didn't like Benjamin getting attacked then beating Burchill in a long match; this would've been a great way to get Burchill a big win, and have Shelton save face by saying he was attacked beforehand.
It feels like just a few weeks ago, Yoshi Tatsu was headed for jobber status. I don't know what changed between now and then, but I was surprised he got the pin over Regal. I guess they could re-start that mini-feud if they want to keep Zack Ryder in the ECW Title hunt. And I can see not jobbing Zeke or Kozlov in that situation too, so I guess Regal had to take the loss. Match had a lot of energy to it, which was nice.
