Lucha Underground Report
February 11, 2015
Taped in Los Angeles, Calif.
Episode #14 aired on El Rey Network
Report by Joel Dehnel, PWTorch contributor

Announcers: Matt Striker and Vampiro.

Opening credits rolled which brought us to The Temple to begin the show.

Backstage: Dario told Alberto El Patron that he was glad he was here in Lucha Underground. Alberto said he liked Dario's key and asked him what it unlocked. Dario ignored him and asked what Alberto wanted. Alberto said he had something he needed to get off his chest. He asked that his request be granted and then the next time he is in Dario's office he will ask for blood.

Announcers: Striker welcomed the audience to the show. Striker said that Alberto will have an open mic tonight.

In-ring: Santos kicked off the first match by introducing Argenis followed by Fenix.

1 -- ARGENIS vs. FENIX

They high-fived, then tied up. Argenis kicked down Fenix followed by a huracanrana, then a senton bomb to the outside. Fenix kicked Argenis off the top rope then hit a corkscrew on Argenis to the outside. Argenis superkicked Fenix off a springboard, then hit another huracanrana into a faceplant to Fenix. Fenix chopped Argenis followed by another kick.

Catrina was shown walking to the ring, then Fenix again kicked Argenis through the ropes. Argenis hit a huracanrana off the top rope followed by a standing moonsault. Fenix then hit a corkscrew to the outside. He chopped Argenis in the corner, then Argenis countered and slammed Fenix. Argenis went for a Tombstone Piledriver, but Fenix countered and hit a piledriver for the win.

Post-match: Catrina crawled in the ring staring at Fenix. She mounted Argenis and gave him the kiss of death.

WINNER: Fenix at 5:32. Argenis and Fenix had a fantastic match as you would expect at this point.

A short video package aired of Alberto El Patrón entering the arena.

Backstage: Catrina said that the power of a thousand lives was too much for Mil Muertes. Muertes grabbed her throat and said he needed nothing. He let her go then ran into Chavo Guerrero. Muertes slammed him against the wall and said next week he will pay his debt.

A mysterious man was in a confession booth and said he was sorry for what he has done. Highlights of Big Ryck being beat down were played. He said that he would take revenge on them for what they have done. He said it's time for Big Ryck. A priest said he was forgiven. The man said, "Thank you, father, but as God once said, vengeance is mine." The man was revealed as Big Ryck sporting a new eye patch.

In-ring: Santos introduced Son of Havoc in the ring with Ivelisse. Havoc said that finally Dario has given him some real competition. So, he is dedicating his win tonight to the baddest b---- in the building and the love of his life. His opponent was revealed as Johhny Mundo.

2 -- SON OF HAVOC (w/Ivelisse) vs. JOHNNY MUNDO

Mundo applied a headlock, then knocked down Havoc. Mundo stomped on Havoc's chest, then forced Havoc to the outside and dove on top of him. Back in the ring, Havoc shoved Mundo into the corner after the distraction from Ivelisse. Havoc climbed up the turnbuckle, then dropped an elbow on Mundo. Havoc climbed to the top and and jumped again, but Mundo hit a mid-air dropkick. Mundo went for a springboard, but Ivelisse grabbed his legs to knock him off. Havoc jumped on Mundo and went for another pin.

The fans were split on the two wrestlers in their chants at this point. Mundo hit another dropkick to fend off Havoc. Mundo pushed Havoc in the corner and unloaded. He hit a massive clothesline on Havoc, who then rolled through and went for a pin, but Mundo kicked him off. Havoc hit a springboard double stomp followed by a standing moonsault. Havoc hit a big boot followed by a springboard elbow and a standing Shooting Star Press. Havoc went to the top, but stalled. He then went for a Shooting Star Press, but was countered by Mundo. Mundo hit End of the World for the victory.

WINNER: Mundo at 8:48.

Post-match: Cuerno attacked Mundo. Mundo fought back, but Cuerno knocked him to the mat again. Cuerno hit Thrill of the Hunt, then slithered out of the ring.

[Break]

Announcers: Vampiro thanked Mariachi El Bronx, then plugged Alberto El Patrón later tonight.

In-ring: Santos introduced Ricky Mandel followed by Pentagon, Jr.

3 -- RICKY MANDEL vs. PENTAGON, JR.

They locked up until Pentagon gained position. Pentagon slammed Mandel, then wagged his finger. He threw down Mandel, then kicked him in the back. He chopped Mandel on the ropes and knocked him in the corner. Mandel fought back, but Pentagon stomped on Mandel again. Mandel hit a head scissors followed by a dropkick.

Mandel went for a cross-body, but Pentagon hit a dropkick and went for a pin. Pentagon continued his dominance, then picked up Mandel and threw him in the corner and kicked him the back of the neck. Pentagon locked in his arm submission for the victory. He then dropped down in what was presented as him breaking Mandel's arm.

Post-match: Pentagon said today he has given his master one more sacrifice.

WINNER: Pentagon at 3:41 via submission.

[Break]

In-ring: Santos welcomed Alberto El Patrón to the ring. Alberto came to the ring carrying the AAA World championship. Huge pop from the crowd and he celebrated with them. Alberto said he knew there would be friends here tonight, then took off his jacket. He said he doesn't need to impress anyone because you are all my family. He said he's so happy to be here with all his friends in Lucha Underground. He discussed his family heritage of luchadores and said they taught him everything in this business including the passion. Alberto said there was somewhere he always needed to go and that was the United States.

Alberto continued that you all know what happened - "They embarrassed me and stabbed me in the back," so that's why he left. He said that last fall he became the first luchador to win all major titles. He said he's here because luchadores aren't held back because of the color of their skin. You're only held back if you can't get the job done and Alberto always gets it done. Suddenly, Texano attacked Alberto from behind with a belt and beat him down. Texano stood over him and said that belt was his.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Again, Lucha Underground delivered a stellar show. I continue to love the backstage sequences because of the distinct cinematography and well-thought-out scripts. I was okay with the backstage vignette of the mystery man being revealed as Big Ryck, but I hope that mystery people don't start showing up every week... One thing that's very under-appreciated about this show is the history that Lucha Underground draws from and how they remind viewers about different matches that have happened on the show. By using this simple technique, it makes viewers take note of great matches and occurrences. Their video packages make me remember what happened a few shows ago and why I should care going forward... Finally, last but certainly not least, the debut of Alberto El Patrón. This guy was treated like a massive star in a building of maybe 300 people, whereas WWE never could figure out how to best utilize him. He's going to draw a lot of attention to this product and hopefully stick around to help it grow to the next level.

SUMMARY RESULTS: (1) Fenix pinned Argenis with a piledriver...(2) Johnny Mundo beat Son of Havoc with End of the World...(3) Pentagon, Jr. submitted Ricky Mandel.
