12/11 WWE ECW Hitlist: Tag Match, Benjamin, Divas Match Dec 15, 2007 - 4:34:43 PM
Benjamin’s Promo: Once again, WWE is giving Shelton Benjamin a chance to talk, and once again he delivered. It wasn’t a stellar promo, but it was good. I like the idea of him being the “Gold Standard” and talking about gold. He is after the ECW World Heavyweight Title, and at this point he is probably the best choice to go after CM Punk. If he keeps getting time to talk on a consistent basis, he has a chance to keep improving and developing those skills to go along with his great in ring ability.
Miz & Morrison vs. Yang & Moore: This was a good two segment tag match. It featured a lot of athleticism, and some very good moves. Everyone brought energy to the match, which is unfortunately often missing from WWE t.v. matches. Jimmy Wang Yang and Shannon Moore could become a pretty good tag team if given more opportunities to work together. They seem to have a solid chemistry. John Morrison and the Miz continue to look impressive as the WWE Tag Team Champions. They have developed their chemistry very nicely over the past few weeks. I am much more excited about them as Tag Team Champions on ECW and Smackdown than I am of Cody Rhodes and Hardcore Holly as Tag Team Champions on Raw. More matches like this on ECW each week would be very welcome.
ECW MISSES
Kelly Kelly vs. Layla & Victoria: More matches like the one I listed above, and less matches like this. All three women showed fire in the match, but fire does not equal a good match. I hate to repeat myself, but Layla and (especially) Kelly do not belong in the ring at this point. I am afraid every time they are in the ring that someone is going to get seriously hurt. They just don’t have the training and background to execute a match properly. And, in order to hide their shortcomings in terms of fundamentals, someone keeps showing them crazy new moves that look cool, at the expense of safety. Instead of showing them those types of moves, why not teach them how to take a back bump? Kelly Kelly does not know how to take a clothesline! That is ridiculous.
