FAST FORWARD: Main Event Prediction, Mid-Card Prediction, Fingers Cross and Please No Predictions Sep 14, 2008 - 4:47:25 PM
Vladimir Kozlov and his First Loss: For weeks now Kozlov has been wrestling nobodies, destroying them in the ring, and then asking for better competition. Well this is the first week that his character has done anything different since day one. By that I mean he came out at the end of the show and attacked an actual star in the form of Jeff Hardy.
This also happened to take place directly after Hardy became the number one contender for the WWE Championship. I think that this left a lot of people scratching their heads and wondering if this was just a random attack and next week he will randomly attack someone else, or if it was directed at Hardy and that Jeff will be the focus of Kozlov's attacks for the foreseeable future.
But I think Kozlov is unhappy that Hardy is now the number one contender and he is stuck facing the likes of Funaki and Scotty Goldman. I think Kozlov will end up getting involved with the WWE Championship match at No Mercy (sorry Hardy fans, but you'll have to wait a bit longer for the big win for Jeff), and go on to beat Jeff at Cyber Sunday, and then take on Triple H at Survivor Series.
The Triple H/Kozlov match will be built much like the Cena/Umaga match that was held at the Royal Rumble a couple of years back. Much like Umaga, Kozlov will be undefeated. And much like the then WWE Champion and superman of wrestling Cena, the current WWE Champion and superman of wrestling Triple H will end that undefeated streak and retain the WWE Title.
From there Kozlov will still have a monster presence, since it took the top guy in the company to give him his first loss, but he will also seem penetrable, and thus some lower ranked WWE stars can pose a real threat to the Moscow Mauler and will pass a great hurdle with a win in a match against Kozlov.
MID-CARD PREDICTION
Carlito & Primo Colon: Last week Primo was on Raw talking about how he's nothing like his brother. This week he is on Smackdown in a tag team match with him. Plus, it seems that the two are faces. Well, I am a bit confused as to what happened to these two over the past week to completely change the direction that they are going, but I think it is probably for the best.
Primo seemed very dull on his own and I was starting to miss Carlito, so I am glad that the two are tagging together. Now that they seem to be on the same page, where are they going to go from here?
There seems to be two directions that they could be going. Either Carlito is playing Primo for a fool and is going to turn on him, or Ryder and Hawkins needed another team to feud with, so they are genuinely together.
Ryder and Hawkins are doing nothing as tag team champions. I cannot even recall when they defended their titles. They are completely boring characters and I can't even remember which on is which. Therefore I do believe that Carlito and Primo are on the same page and will eventually take the tag belts from the ever-so-dull Ryder and Hawkins.
I see the Colons tagging together for the better part of a year and will remain faces. After Ryder and Hawkins are out of the way, Miz and Morrison will make for a much more interesting rivalry. And then maybe Kendrick and Ezekiel will make a run at the title much like Shawn Michaels and Diesel did back during the New Generation.
Once their tag team has grown stale, I do believe that Carlito will turn on Primo and reprise his heel character, but I do not feel that will be in the near future and the Colons will hold the tag titles before year's end.
FINGERS CROSSED PREDICTION
The Future of The Brian Kendrick: The Brian Kendrick is my favorite new character hands down. He's great on the mic, he's terrific in the ring, he's got an interesting personality, his bodyguard is totally badass, and his jacket is absolutely awesome! Okay, I made that last part up, the jacket is a bit goofy, but all the rest is true.
I really hope Kendrick goes far in WWE, and I honestly think he will. WWE has seemed to show more faith in smaller guys in recent history. Aside from Triple H, most of the current champion's physiques are pretty normal looking. This, of course, helps Kendrick's odds of success.
It looks as if Kendrick is being molded after his trainer, that being Shawn Michaels. He starts off as a successful highflying tag team, then goes it alone, but picks up a badass bodyguard. If he continues to follow format, it seems likely that Kendrick will hold either the United States or the Intercontinental championships in due time.
I don't foresee Kendrick garnering the same amount of success as Shawn Michaels has. There are too many fish in the water in WWE nowadays for that to be a possibility. But with his change in character, I think that Kendrick is the breakout star of 2008 and I have my fingers crossed that WWE will continue to slowly roll him into an eventual main event slot.
PLEASE NOT THAT PREDICTION
So, No Surrender is tonight. Why does every TNA pay-per-view sound like the company is Rocky overcoming the odds? Anyhow, after this past Thursday's Impact there is only one match that I can really even think about happening on the card: Angelina Love versus Taylor Wild. I mean really, that moronic beauty pageant monopolized the show.
Are The Beautiful People co owners of TNA now or what? I cannot fathom any other reason why such an obnoxious team would get so much face time on a single episode. But be that as it may, tonight Angelina Love is setting her sights on the Knockout Championship and I am praying that she does not win it. The last thing that I want is even more backstage segment with Angelina, Velvet, and Kip trying to put a paper bag on someone's head.
Personally, if I was head f TNA, after this rivalry is over I would have Kong come back after her title. From there I would give Gail Kim whatever she wants to make her stay with TNA and then renew that feud, having Kim work as the underdog to regain the Knockout Championship.
But instead we very well may be looking at Angelina as champion, whining about how nobody is as good looking as she is. I just really hope that something is done to limit the amount of time that The Beautiful People are featured each week on Impact and I would think not giving Love the title tonight is step one.
ONE FINAL PREDICTION
Next week on Smackdown, Brian Kendrick's Jacket will be completed by adding neon lights to the back that spell out his name.
