Thank you for joining me as we put Smackdown "Under The Microscope." This is not a complete recap of the show. This is a closer look at the broadcast, from what was said to what was seen and anything in between.

All is forgiven

The Tag Team Championship match provided an interesting parallel for how the teams were formed. Primo and Carlito obviously have a brotherly bond, but when Primo debuted in the WWE, he was quite vocal about his displeasure over his brother's attitude. His complaints were dropped and they quickly formed a tag team.

The Miz and John Morrison actually started out competing for the same goal in the form of the ECW Championship. They reluctantly formed a team to face Matt Hardy and MVP. Although The Miz and Morrison started to get along much better, the relationship between Hardy and MVP ended as MVP turned on Hardy allowing The Miz and Morrison to win the belts and put their disagreements aside.

Happy, Happy

Happy Birthday to Ricky Steamboat, who turned 56 years old this weekend and celebrated with an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. During the video recap of his career, we saw Ric Flair and Randy Savage for obvious reasons, but we were also fortunate enough to get a Hercules sighting as well as a glimpse at George "The Animal" Steele.

Closer to home were several shots of Steamboat's son. Just after Steamboat won the Intercontinental Title, he asked for some time off to be with his wife as she was going to give birth to their son, Richard Jr. Reportedly, this did not go over well with Vince McMahon who wanted the champ to be featured prominently and Steamboat's title reign was a short one, dropping the belt to The Honky Tonk Man that June.

Another theory is that management was upset that Steamboat and Randy Savage stole the attention from Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant with their classic match at WrestleMania 3.

Another theory is that the The Honky Tonk Man was simply cool, cocky, and bad. At the end of the day, that just may be enough.

Dig it

Flashing back to WrestleMania IV and V gives us a double dose of Randy Savage this week. At WM IV, Savage came out on top of the tournament to crown a new WWF Champion, defeating Butch Reed, Greg Valentine, One Man Gang, and Ted DiBiase to earn the title. Savage missed an interesting second round match-up when Valentine surprised Steamboat in their opening round match. That would have been a welcome re-match from the previous year's classic.

We've talked before about the lack of managers in the current version of the WWE. During the first round of that tournament at WM IV, every match had at least one person in the corner for one of the competitors. Granted, Virgil was more of a valet and Andre the Giant was there for emotional support of DiBiase, but the other matches had managers under the classic definition. Bobby Heenan, Slick, and Jimmy Hart were some of the usual names, but WM IV also featured Sir Oliver Humperdink and Frenchy Martin.

Donald Trump was featured in respect to his hosting two straight WrestleManias, the only time that has happened. Nearly 20 years later, he would return to WM 23 as part of the Billionaire's Hair vs. Hair match, which featured McMahon getting his head shaved after Bobby Lashley beat Umaga. That same night, The ECW Originals fought The New Breed in an eight-man tag match. Less than two years later, Sabu, The Sandman, Rob Van Dam, Elijah Burke, Marcus Cor Von, Kevin Thorn and Ariel were wished well in their future endeavors. The only two to remain from that match are Matt Striker and Tommy Dreamer.

Your turn

Vladimir Kozlov's surprise victory over The Undertaker gave the Russian a measure of revenge. Although WWE proudly boasts that Kozlov is undefeated in singles action, he was pinned by The Undertaker in the recent Elimination Chamber match. Among his other losses, he was eliminated in The Royal Rumble match and he lost a triple threat match against Triple H and Edge at The Survivor Series, when The Rated-R Superstar joined the match in progress and pinned The Game.

Big Show, little details

The Big Show, like many other athletes, displays obvious examples of artwork across his body, including the ones easiest to see on his shoulders. We caught a glimpse of a less obvious one during his match against John Cena. With a close up of his lower leg, we saw T-K-E, a tribute to his college days at Wichita State, where he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity as well as playing on the basketball team.

-- Other former members of the Shockers hoops squad are NBA veterans Antoine Carr and Xavier McDaniel.

-- Other famous TKE members are West Virginia Senator Robert Byrd, former Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee and Sportscaster Digger Phelps.

-- Other uses of the "The Big Show" include SportsCenter, when hosted by Dan Patrick and Keith Olbermann and a radio talk show out of Boston

-- Other ways to stretch out an article which is shorter than you intended include bulleted lists, larger fonts and extra spaces.

After Cena's first attempt at picking up Big Show failed, Tazz seemed surprised that he would even attempt such a move. Granted, Show is bit heavier than most of Cena's opponents, but if you remember back to WM XX, Cena picked up The Big Show, dropped him and grabbed his U.S. Championship. Granted, at the time it was called the F-U, so technically, this was the first time Cena has given Show an Attitude Adjustment.

Finally

During the match with Cena and The Big Show, one of the punches was referred to as "a haymaker." I had heard the expression several times in the past and I knew that it was usually used to describe a punch delivered with a wider area of movement and it with a certain level of power.

If you take a closer look, the term "haymaker" actually came into being because the path of the punch mimics the appearance of a scythe which was often used to manually cut hay, hence a "haymaker." You would use the scythe to chop it down before the hay was formed into bales. The baling could be done in several forms, whether it was with machinery or by hand. If you were doing it by hand, it would usual require you to be closer to the ground, so bent over baling was common. Unless, of course you are MVP and then you would be straight up balin'.
