PWTorch VIP members have first-look access to all of Torch specialist Greg Hoops's latest blogs in the newly upgraded VIP Forum. His blogs are published first in the PWTorch VIP Forum, and Hoops interacts with other VIP members and Torch staff and contributors in the blog comments area afterward. Some of Hoops's blog entries will be exclusive to the VIP Forum.

-- I was pretty sure that Edge vs. Cena would be one of the headline matches for WrestleMania 25. That is, until watching Raw's main event last night. Cena vs. Edge has been done many times before and since they gave it away on free TV last night. It only makes sense WWE is going in a different direction than Cena vs. Edge as a main event.

It now looks like a three-way will be one of the main events with Big Show moving into the Cena and Edge mix. In hindsight, Big Show's win over Cena on Smackdown makes sense if that is the direction.

Michaels vs. The Undertaker could be the show-stealer at WrestleMania. It doesn't make sense to have Taker's WrestleMania streak end to a wrestler who is not young enough to get the rub, but Michaels would cement his legacy by ending the Undertaker's streak.

I really loved the Jericho-Snuka confrontation, with Jericho getting a ton of heat from the crowd. Listening to Lawler's commentary, it certainly sounds as if he will somehow be involved in the angle, if it is as a backup plan for a bigger name at WrestleMania.

-- Great to see Cowboy Bill Watts being inducted into the WWE HOF. Jim Ross inducting Watts is a great choice as well. Watts wrestled throughout the territory regions in the 1960s and 1970s, including the AWA, the WWF, and the NWA, but he is best remembered as a booker and promoter.

Watts started booking in the early 1970s in Florida, learning how to book along side Dusty Rhodes from Eddie Graham. Watts was given a chance to book the NWA in Georgia as well before moving on to the Oklahoma territory that was being promoted by LeRoy McGuirk. After a brief promotional war between Watts and McGuirk that saw Watts come out on top, Watts and McGuirk co-promoted the territory.

Watts called his promotion Mid-South, and focused exclusively on the Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas regions. Watts promoted this region until 1987 when the economy was in the midst of a recession and Watts made a short run as a national promotion, changing the name of his territory to Universal Wrestling Federation. Watts couldn't compete in a financially troubled area of Oklahoma and sold his territory to Jim Crockett Promotions. Watts briefly promoted WCW in 1992 and WWF in 1995. I will have more on Bill Watts in an upcoming Torch .pdf newsletter.

-- Sixteen years ago, the Hollywood Blondes of Brian Pillman and Steve Austin won their first and only WCW World Tag Team Titles. Also this week, Paul Orndorff won the WCW World TV Title in a tournament final over Bill Watts's youngest son, Erik Watts. I will have more on this as well as other nostalgia wrestling news in this week's Torch nostalgia podcast.
