These thoughts are brought to you by someone who has seen nary an ROH show live or on DVD. I may have seen a match or two on YouTube, but otherwise, these are my first impressions of ROH.

-The matches were all good, but aside from the main eventers, no one in particular stood out. It's difficult to do so though in the shorter matches that aired.

-Production values were solid and I liked how they gave a little info on each wrestler.

-Mike Hogewood was not good. I don't know what it is about wrestling companies thinking they need to bring people outside the industry in to announce. "That hurt him!" seemed to be Hogewood's pet call, or at least, what he went to when he didn't know what else to say.

-I thought they were calling Sami Callahan "The New Whore," but with his Halloween gimmick, I'm guessing it was "The New Horror."

-Kenny King, who I believe is a former Tough Enough contestant, looked impressive. But I'm sure WWE won't pick him up, as he looks (and acts) too much like Shelton Benjamin.

-I really liked Jimmy Jacobs's look and promo. They both really stood out without seeming cartoonish.

-The "History of ROH" video package was needed, but I don't know that it truly captured what ROH is all about. It looked more like another (original) ECW based on the highlights shown.

-Rhett Titus' gimmick (and Callahan's, to a lesser extent), screams "Indy 4 Life."

-Brent Albright, the former Gunner Scott, looked very smooth and compact in the ring.

-Tyler Black has a little CM Punk in him. While the main event was impressive, I noticed that there wasn't a lot in the match different from what we know as "main event style." I could see 95 percent of that match, in terms of moves and the like, being used in WWE right now.

-While the atmosphere didn't add much (the crowd was in the dark for the most part and not as vocal as I expected), I thought the show left a positive first impression for the most part. I'll certainly check it out in future weeks.
