SUPERSTARS HITS

Cryme Tyme & Eve vs. The Hart Dynasty: This was clearly the match of the night, but that isn't necessarily saying much. This was the only match with a lot of energy. JTG and Shad Gaspard are connecting with the audience. Tyson Kidd continues to show he is a breakout star of the future. David Hart Smith has looked better the last month than he had before. Eve Torres has also improved quite a bit in the ring. I cringed when she wrestled the first few times, but now she has abilities and deserves more chances. And, Natalya has shown plenty of ability and I'm not sure why she isn't getting to show it more often in matches. WWE put these six in the ring at the same time and gave them a good amount of time to show off their skills. It was a good mixed tag match and after a poor show, it was nice to see a strong main event in the end.

SUPERSTARS MISSES

Bourne vs. Masters: Yes, Evan Bourne got the win in the end over Chris Masters as he should. However, the poor quality of the match before that win as well as how Bourne's win was treated as an upset land this in the Miss column. The match wasn't good. It lasted too long at 12 minutes while being dominated by Masters and his offense. Watching him methodically beat on Bourne and apply long submissions showing his physical dominance wasn't fun. Bourne only got in a few moves. The ending sequence was strong with Bourne escaping the Masterlock and ultimately hitting the Shooting Star Press. However, that was too late to save the match which was boring for the previous 11 minutes. Jim Ross might be right that size doesn't matter as much in WWE as it used to (the recent big pushes for Jeff Hardy, CM Punk, John Morrison, Rey Mysterio (despite the suspension) and Chris Jericho is evidence of that). But, Masters was brought back solely based on his physique, so there is something still wrong with the mentality of the company. Having him dominate a smaller wrestler is a shame.

Overall Show: Even with the one Hit for the main event, this was still a sub-par episode of Superstars. Even that main event was good, but far from great. The overall wrestling on Superstars in usually better than this. I complained in detail about Bourne vs. Masters. William Regal vs. Tyler Reks was ok. It was a showcase for Regal who needed a strong win as he is the #1 contender for the ECW Title. However, the match was a bit slow and too heavy on the mat holds for my taste. It wasn't a Miss as it was solid, but certainly not good enough to get a Hit either. The video on Chris Jericho and The Big Show as ok. I liked Raw this week more than I have in awhile, but I still didn't want to sit through a highlight video of it in the Raw Rebound. So, the main event was good, but not good enough to save this rather dull show.
