SUPERSTARS HITS

Shaemus vs. Tatsu: In a show with too many matches where none were given much time, at least Shaemus and Yoshi Tatsu did all they could in 5 minutes to put on a good match. I would have liked to see this match be two segment and go at least twice as long (if not longer). I complained for ECW about WWE wasting Tatsu's talent. It was good to see him get in some offense and have a good showing against Shaemus here, even if he took the loss. WWE is still wasting his talent. With some better build, he could be taken seriously as a top babyface on ECW. Shaemus is getting a push which is good. In the end, this could have been a better match with more time to allow for a more competitive match, but it was still good while it lasted.

Swagger & Miz vs. Primo & Kingston: At 6 minutes, this main event tag was the longest match of the show (much more later). It was good, but too short. For now I will focus on the positives starting with the great energy brought to the match by Primo and Kofi Kingston. They are both very fun to watch and Kingston in particular got to shine here. I loved how he leaped onto the heels at ringside after Jack Swagger pulled The Miz out of the ring saving him from the Boom Boom leg drop. It was also good to see Miz pick up the victory over the United States Champion with a relatively clean victory with his Skull Crushing Defeat finisher. After too much of a nebulous US Title situation with several multi-person matches for the Title, I am hoping that WWE will focus on a one on one feud, Miz vs. Kingston for awhile.

SUPERSTARS MISSES

Too Many Matches: The last Superstars before a PPV seems to always have too many matches. I think I wrote the same thing before SummerSlam (too lazy to check), but it is almost like WWE doesn't want to give away longer matches for free right before a PPV. That might be sound business strategy, yet I miss the three match format. Four is ok. But, five is too many on a one hour show. What did Kane vs. Jimmy Wang Yang accomplish? Kane is a former WWE and ECW Champion. Enhancement matches for 12 year veterans don't do much. It didn't do much for Yang other than remind the fans that he's still on the roster. Did it make you want to see Kane in a singapore cane match at Breaking Point? Me neither. Nikki Bella vs. Katie Lea Burchill had its moments, but only when Katie Lea was in control of the match. She has some talent which isn't being utilized as well as it should be. The old switcheroo is too old already. The Bellas always cheat, yet they are babyfaces which doesn't make sense. Again, this match didn't accomplish much. Dolph Ziggler vs. Slam Master J was random and didn't accomplish much. Ziggler is well established and didn't gain anything from beating the former Jesse in his "second" match. I had forgotten about him until he came out, so who cares? Sure, there were two Hit worthy matches, but they were too short also. Superstars is a show where you usually can get a higher level of in ring action with two longer matches. That is especially essential for Raw mid carders who don't get any time on Raw. Here, four mid carders were featured in a good tag match, that as I said was too short, so the Raw mid card was cheated this week.
