-Action Figure Spotlight #23: Jakks-Pacific TNA Cross the Line Series 2 Two-Packs James Storm
-Originally released: 2010
-What you can expect to pay: $15-20 loose (Storm only); $20-25 loose (with Robert Roode); $25-35 packaged
-Recent sales: $25 (loose, with Roode); $20 (packaged)

James Storm has just begun his ascension to main event status in TNA, but he’s been a favorite with fans and collectors for several years.

As Beer Money, Storm and Robert Roode usually had some of the best selling merchandise in TNA. Their t-shirts were cool much the way Austin 3:16 and NWO t-shirts were cool in the 1990s, albeit on a much smaller scale. Beer Money baseball caps, autographs, and other items were popular with wrestling fans as well.

Given Storm’s marketability, it is strange that Jakks-Pacific has only made one figure of the “Cowboy” to date. Granted, Jakks hasn’t been in the TNA toy business very long, but the company has managed to make multiple figures of Kurt Angle, Mr. Anderson, and Kevin Nash, among others.

Storm’s lone figure was included in the second series of Cross the Line two-packs with then-partner Roode. Both men are depicted in red tights with the Beer Money logo on the back; Storm’s figure also comes with a cowboy hat and sunglasses.

The Beer Money figures came and went pretty quickly. After retail stores and online suppliers sold through their initial supply, they never seemed to get any more in. For a while, the Beer Money two-pack with a retail price of under $20 was selling on the secondary market in the $50-$60 range, with loose figures commanding more than $20 each.

Prices have softened somewhat over the last few months, due to a few factors. TNA briefly made these figures available at shoptna.com for discounted prices, and they quickly sold out. Coincidentally, more of these figures began popping up on eBay within a few weeks after selling out from TNA’s website. And last month, Jakks announced a new series of Deluxe Impact figures for 2012, which will include the first solo figures of Storm and Roode.

While prices have dropped somewhat, the Storm figure is still tough to find and sells well. If you can find a loose figure, expect to pay $15-20. If you want the two figures packaged, you’ll probably pay between $25 and $35.

If you’re looking for an alternative to this figure, try to seek out Storm’s first toy. In the mid-2000s, Toy Biz made a line of TNA figures, including a tag team set of America’s Most Wanted. The Toy Biz toys aren’t especially popular with collectors, and if you can find a Storm figure loose, you should be able to find it for under $5.

Sloppy Signature Trivia

Even though the majority of the readers thought the autograph featured in last Thursday’s trivia question belonged to MVP, it is actually that of former WWE Diva Melina Perez. Her signature was included on the WrestleMania 24 winners’s plaque. Congratulations to Larry Lutz, Lee Dula, Jeffrey Berry, Mark Belluomini, Jimmy Fazio, Joseph DiGennaro, Dave Dickinson, and Matt Sweeney, who identified the sloppy signature.
