Instant Reaction - TNA Impact 8/2
By Benjamin Tucker, PWTorch TV specialist

Overall Score - 8.0

While I'm not a fan of every storyline TNA is producing, and the show still has a few kinks to work out, the Thursday night show has consistently produced quality television for some time now. Even the storylines that I don't care for have several positives working for them. For as bad as the Claire storyline is, Daniels and Kazarian were hilarious in their roles tonight. The baby shower was delightful, and the small touches from Daniels were fantastic (the man keeps martinis inside his locker and wears a scarf to the ring - awesome). And while I'm not the biggest fan of the James Storm storyline, they are playing up the intrigue well. The set-up and hype for the main event was very well done, and the match was pretty solid as well, even if the ending was somewhat lacking. The crowd simply wasn't into the brawl at the end, though, and it felt way too forced.

One of my complaints with the show is that the Bound for Glory Series matches set up for Hardcore Justice feel thrown together. With only two hours (no, I'm not counting Xplosion) of TV to use, it's hard to hype seven or eight matches for pay-per-view, and while TNA has been doing an admirable job for their main feuds, they still seem to be having an issue filling out the undercard. Even the TNA Title storyline with Aries and Roode seems to be getting a bit overshadowed by the Aces and Eights story. Instead of having multiple segments highlighting the champion, he was relegated to the opening match and talking about Aces and Eights. Their feud is starting to feel less personal. Plus, as good as Daniels and Kaz were, Claire was equally as bad. For one, shouldn't someone teach her to cry on cue if that's essentially her only job? Secondly, why is that baby growing so fast? Two weeks ago she didn't have any bump to speak of. Tonight, Claire looks like she's about six months in!

Opening the show with the tag team match was a good idea. It provided a nice dose of action while also highlighting Kenny King. King still needs a lot of time, as at the moment his gimmick seems to be "I'm an X Division wrestler," but I guess it's a start. He has a lot to offer, with a solid look and good move set, but it seems as if TNA is jumping the gun with him a bit. The women's match was another really fun match to watch. All four women worked hard (Kim took some especially rough-looking bumps), and the Hebner-Rayne storyline is surprisingly working for me. It's been a while that we've seen a story similar to this one, and as cartoonish as it may be, at least they're giving it the old college try.

Both the Bully Ray squash and Chavo Guerrero match were well done, giving Ray a solid cred-boosting win and Chavo a way to reintroduce himself to the audience. That being said, the crowd didn't seem to be too hot for him, but I guess that's not so surprising. After all, he is stil just Chavo Guerrero. As far as the Ray squash is concerned, I'd like to see TNA use guys like Dinero and Magnus on Impact more often. They're a part of the BFGS, but they've spent the majority of the tournament either working house show matches or being on Xplosion. Instead of having Angle work another Impact match, maybe once in a while let Magnus have some time in the spotlight. A small complaint, but a legitimate one.

Really, all that matters is that TNA produced yet another quality show that produced good wrestling and, for the most part, did a good job with its main feuds. Not much to say, other than rock on, TNA. Rock on.
